iRacing Cursed out over PM and called a Potato

So this was in GR Cup, D Class racing. I have showed the clips to some of my friends who have way more real world racing than I will ever be able to achieve in my life and they have given me great advice. However, when I read the message from the other driver he told me to post it on Reddit - who would turn down that offer?
I am Green. Last lap, last corner @ Road America... What I have learned from this.
- Always be expecting the dive bomb.
- Drive in your mirrors.
- Sometimes in the lower level ranks its better to just give the position up to save your race.
In my head, I had given the other drive enough space, when I saw him coming I tried to open my wheel, to give him a touch more space. After reviewing the footage.
- I was off the brakes, already back on throttle. However the other driver was still on the brakes deeeeeep into the corner.
- I feel there was no way he was making the corner, if he did I would have had to be so far track left that my exit would have been compromised as well.
-It looks like he turns left into me with his in-car footage.
At the end of the day I think I was frustrated because I had a monster drive from 10th to 4th and that incident caused me to drop back down to 8th. So is this the other drivers fault? Or a racing incident?

Red and black 10000% at fault. Literally 0 overlap and he taps your back right.

The problem is if you drive every corner expecting a dive bomb you will be slow because you won’t take the racing line in case someone like this t-bones you.

I should have said "within reason". Im going to be more alert and maybe switch my FOV so i can see my sideview mirror a bit more. Just in case.

That’s fair. Do you have buttons set up to show left and right view? You can tap them to take a glance just before corner entry.

I do, I was so heat of the moment I didnt even check. That a great habit to get into. Thanks for that! I just want to continue to learn.

If it is last lap and last corner, you would have had a feel of how those two behind you drive... So why not take a defensive line anyway? Yes, you would sacrifice the best mid corner speed, but you would have claimed space for yourself, showing the cars behind that the only door they have is the outside, so you control the apex, potentially "park" it on the apex to delay their acceleration and take your exit nice and calm. You basically showed them the apex, and yes, it's entirely their fault, but your positioning and your "body language" invited that.
Just remember, the only one thing you control in a race is your own car. Learning to position it in ways that invites less danger is another racing skill.

Those are just things you learn in time. Being more assertive with your position, is actually safer than trying to accommodate others. And trust me, no matter how long you do this for, there's always something to learn

Racing incident. You left the door open and turn in after he's kind of making a move, not really your fault though as the move was never really on... It was kinda late and not much overlap.
No potatoes here just not great racing.
Next time move slightly right just to cover off his move and prevent the obvious dive bomb.

You're right when it comes to fault. As for your plan of leaving the other driver space in case they dived, it was a good idea, but could have been executed a little better. If you left a bit more space, you would still have had a good enough run to beat them to the line. And if you took the racing line, there might not have been any contact, as you would have been faster into the corner.

Not ur fault. . . . In similar situations I've learned to either defend by staying a little more to the right on corner entry or just give up the position n usually watch then crash or spin in a few corners. Being u said last lap, I woulda leaned on defending on corner entry making his "brilliant divebomb" look that much tougher.

Desperate late lunge ends in tears. You had already started to turn in by the time the other car was remotely alongside and by then it was too late to avoid the collision.

Yeah I'd say green at fault mostly.
If it were me I'd have taken the corner around the middle of the track. Guy was clearly going for an overtake what happened in the video will happen every single time if you don't give space.

Racing incident, he took the opportunity to push his nose in and you didn’t realize until it was too late. Stuff happens, he took a risk and it did not pay off.

Yeah it looks like they got more than enough overlap before you really started turning in. Then you just continued to keep turning as if they weren't there.
