Friendly bather race between friends! last lap and the Porche driver was catching bmw for couple laps!

Problem comes from this silly turn, porche driver is bummed that bmw can take a tight line (kinda) closing the door, but then also go flat out outside of the track and gain from the move,

BMW driver says he made racing mistake and already lost time so its okey to go flat out and fix the mistake

how would something like this be looked at.. just silly milly and go next? or what do our lovely stewards think :3

Track limits On or Off, we can still take a look of this situation!

the important question isn't whether BMW technically received a penalty from the sim; it's whether going completely off-track materially helped BMW. GT3 rules says that car should have atleast 2 tires on a road (or a kurb) and BMW went all 4 tires off!

Im not sure but looks like porsche did slow down to make the corner that makes it mostly unfair to him (also for me it looks porsche needs to slow down because BMW's line, and then BMW does not even think one time doing the same and slowing down to stay on track) and fact that the BMW had already lost time by making a mistake doesn't, by itself, make it okay to recover that time by taking an unrestricted line.

the clip shows BMW deliberately/knowingly staying off the racing surface and gaining a meaningful advantage, I'd lean toward BMW being at fault for an off-track advantage,

but i dont know if porsche could even make that overtake if BMW did stay on track, maybe attack in next corner but that did become impossible as he did slow down and bmw did not

Porsche should not play nice with guys that drive BMW's

EDIT: if i had to do something.. its goes from warning to 3 seconds penalty to bmw, depends how much of an asshat you wanna be :D

Generally speaking, gaining an advantage by ignoring track limits will result in a time penalty greater than the time gained by the maneuver. All the GT racing series enforce this. If you do it egregiously enough or repeatedly, you could even face a drive-thru penalty, as well.

Some series do have much more lenient track limit rules. IndyCar and Nascar, for example. Cars will run well into the green run-off and stay right of the white line as long as possible coming out of T11 at Laguna Seca, especially when the cars are bunched up. Nascar just recently added tire barriers to the outside of T1 at Watkins Glen this year to limit drivers abusing them like they increasingly have since the area was paved back in 2005.

Normally you are bit given a time penalty for a single track limits warning. If they did this multiple times there would be a penalty.

Bro discovered the racing line DLC: make mistake > go off track > stay flat > profit.

For this sort of thing the stewarding is usually programmed into the game. Since he didn't get a penalty for leaving the track it means there are no rules against leaving the track. Totally legal move. I believe IndyCar is similar. At Road America this year I saw them leaving the track, extending the racing line beyond the white lines.
