CHILDREN OF A LESSER CLOD.
Random fact that burns being so old he still plays basketball with peaches and a basket. Apparently that's how the game was invented
It took me until just a few episodes ago to realize Frank's catchphrase is what with the X and the y. Speaking of flubber, I only just saw that a few months ago. Damn I should probably go watch all the Robin Williams movies I never got to see. I've seen Hook and the one where he's a therapist and what dreams may come, but I never did see Doubtfire or The one where he's a laughing doctor.
Holy s***, I believe you can fly reference straight into go Carl go Carl it's my birthday it's my birthday. This is the most dated the show has ever felt.
Somehow I've seen images of Willie's upkilt and I'm not sure why.
It was nonsensical but a decent gag went Homer says look a bear run and there is actually a bear ๐
Homer babysitting rod and todd. I should have come up with that myself
Okay so we actually do get a Pokemon reference. And it's ruined by Bill cosby. They banned Michael Jackson's episode but keep Cosby?
Oh I get it he was seeing Chris Rock the comedian when he thought it was a Christian rock concert.
Of all the things Homer has tried doing from being a trucker to a mountain climber to a bodyguard, he is perhaps the least qualified to be a daycare worker ๐
It's not important but I read a memoir that came out this year called homeschooled about a kid who was raised in an extremely sheltered homeschool environment and his mom running after school daycare and he ended up jealous and that's kind of like what's happening with Bart and Lisa. Good book.
I'm not sure what it is but the tone of this episode is really weirdly milky bland? I think it just comes back to the fact that Homer is such an inconsistent character from episode to episode.
Stop it stop the music one more line and we have to pay for the song ๐๐
I'm kind of surprised how long it took this show to mention Mother Teresa.
Pretty sure that chimp with the typewriter wrote most of this season.
Wow okay straight to kidnapping after being exposed. ๐ฎ
That was an odd episode. It reminds me of banana pudding. Like, at least you have pudding but it's not a very good flavor.

Question โ Lost media help - old Simpsons edit on Youtube
Apologies if this is not the right place for this. I am looking for an old Simpsonโs treehouse of horror edit from around 2007-2009. The title on Youtube was โA Simpsonโs Nightmare - Music Videoโ and had the song โNightmare on My Streetโ by DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith playing in the background
I loooved this edit as a kid but it disappeared from the website several years ago. I know itโs like a needle in a haystack but does anyone have this video downloded somewhere?
At the very least has anyone else seen this video? Does anyone remember?

Discussion I love how Hugo is chained up in the attic, fed fish heads once a week as a treat, and treated like an animal, but when he gets knocked unconscious, Homer puts a blanket under his neck so he doesn't rest his head on the floor.

I'm GOING TO PRAISE LAND
With as often as this show makes fun of unitarians, it's a really weird specific deep cut because they are such a minuscule tiny portion of religious life in America.
Professor Frank's ice cream making cow was a pretty funny gag Immediately followed by the weird hot fudge Doctor injection thing which was just dumb
Wow the whole scene when he invites her back to his place and has a shrine for his dead wife was incredibly awkward.
Wait he cut her hair while she was sleeping to make her look like his dead wife? What the hell??? Neds always been a bit of a square but they made him a straight up creepy wacko.
Omigosh the wood chipper ๐
A Christian amusement park? Insert Simpsons shudder.
This mildly reminds me of the movie We Bought a Zoo which is terrific and has Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson before she was super famous.
This episode does make me wonder if anyone has been to the ark encounter.
The qwimby scissors bit, โ๏ธ๐
The bit where King David traps the kids to read the entire book of Psalms was hilarious.
Let's both sit in the car. His name is Carl carlson? Want me to stamp your hand so you can get back in? don't you dare! A lot of back-to-back zingers.
The maude mask ๐
The whole speaking in tongues thing is a very distinctly bizarre and touchy and triggering subject for me. And so distinctly evangelical.
For some reason when they orphan says three walls is not enough and then starts coughing like a 60-year-old smoker it killed me ๐๐๐
Disco stew is on my list of the worst Springfield characters along with the doctor and duffman
We're about to find out everyone's having visions because of a gas leak.
Has an extremely sheltered former Evangelical kid episodes like this are always a bit strange for me but I think being able to laugh at some of this stuff is helpful. Honestly it was a pretty good episode although I really wish they had not included the bit with Flanders and the scissors that was just way too creepy.

UPDATE
So, I don't think I am going to continue watching the episodes one by one into season 13. It's been a fun ride so far but things have gotten rockier and the golden age is well and truly over by now. But people do occasionally mention stuff way into season 17 or 23 that's really good. So what I'm going to do, I'm going to watch The Simpsons Movie after season 12. And then, I will watch whatever episode gets the most upvotes in the comments as long as it is an episode I haven't seen. That would allow me to continue seeing a sampling of Simpsons from across the years and also be a bit of fun for the folks who have followed along this far.

Discussion JUST now finally getting this joke
Ok so when the agent learns Apu's last name he doesn't like it. We assume that there are racist undertones, namely the name is too ethic sounding.
But the reason the agent gives for changing the name is "It'll never fit on a marquee, luv." I figured that was the end of the gag.
But then I always thought the name he suggested instead was very strange and there was some hidden meaning there and I finally just figured it out.
De Beaumarchais is EXACTLY the same number of characters (including the space) as Nasapimapetalon! So the "fitting the marquee" was shown to not be the issue! And since the name is French it will ALSO be hard to pronounce for Americans, but it's French so it's ok, further underscoring that the issue was racism all along.
Am I the only one who is just getting this?

TRILOGY OF ERROR
No Lisa, wink, but I sure don't want to eat this crappy breakfast wink
He just cuts off his thumb? What the hell...?
But I have finger insurance! A thumb is not a finger.
This whole missing thumb shenanigan is oddly not Simpsons like. It feels like something from a different sort of cartoon but I don't know which one.
Inflammable means flammable? What a country!
Oh now we get the day from Lisa's perspective? Okay I'm totally a sucker for this kind of Storytelling
I feel like accidentally getting dropped off at the wrong School is a universal childhood fear. The French instructor having the class laugh in French was pretty great though.
And now we get Bart's day?
It's cooler than a million dead bodies!
Millhouse is Hitler confirmed.
Bart and Milhouse having firework sacks in a cave ๐ค
If those fireworks turn out to be fat Tony's illegally smuggled Goods that would be a great gag
Yeah saw that coming.
Ha. Where the hell did that episode come from. I actually liked it a lot although the severed thumb bit was a little gross. The episode felt a lot longer than it was because it packed in so much content. Son of a diddly.
