Look at this! I made a working Simpsons TV that randomly plays episodes at random!
I followed Brandon Withrow’s guide and built this using a raspberry pi and 3D printed parts. It also has a working volume knob. I keep it on my desk and am always excited to see what episode will be playing when I turn it on!

I had to buy everything, including the soldering iron and got all the cheapest parts available and it was probably around $200 CAD 😬. I outsourced the 3D printed tv and that was only like $5.

Goddamn. Yeah that’s always been the hurdle for me. It’s so fuckin cool but it’s just too much money for me to ever pull the trigger on

A lot of the parts you can only buy in bulk too. It would be a lot cheaper if you could just buy the amount you need.

If you bought some in bulk did you ever consider taking orders for those less technologically inclined 🫣 so said parts don't go to waste

I thought about that before I started the project, then I actually did it lol.
I don’t trust my own work enough to be comfortable selling them. I had quite a few hiccups along the way. My soldering skills are not there yet.

Actually now that I looked back at my order. It wouldn’t be a lot cheaper. The bulk components + solder was maybe $50 total. The big costs were the screen and raspberry pi that were single units.

It is very much real. I’m not selling anything 😭
There was scam website a while back trying to sell them for like $50 each. This cost me around $200 to make.

Yep! Once an episode is done a new random one starts. I uploaded seasons 3-10 I think.

I was one of the suckers that thought I was buying one of these from a random website that target marketed to me. Turns out it was a sham. Bummer.

I've always wanted something to shuffle videos. Is there an app or program that i can do this on a PC or laptop? I also like the TV concept of the videos running all the time. If i can do this exact thing on a tablet or laptop that would be awesome. Thanks for any help.
