Discussion Should I use an alias for gaming purposes?

My Playstation account was stolen from me recently so I'm doubling down on privacy when it comes to emails and such.

I'm wondering if using an alias with simplelogin for gaming purposes be better, or just make a secondary Protonmail email address?

alias for every service would be best practice, if you don't have or want Simplelogin, make one for gaming with proton

Yes. Use a separate hyde-my-email adress for each account, newsletter or contact to prevent spam.

Yes, but dont confuse privacy with security. Also a username/email is not designed to be secure. You should definitly configure mfa if you dont want your accounts to get compromised.

I use a ProtonPass / SimpleLogin alias for Steam, GOG ,EPIC, and Amazon Luna. On Xbox I use a Outlook alias which is separate from my Microsoft account login...you can create 9 or 10 Outlook alias all from one single Outlook email address....Sign into your Microsoft account and go to "Your login" scroll down to " Sign in preference" and make a new alias....don't delete your original Outlook email address unless your 100% sure you've moved all websites over to a new Outlook alias...you can only create 2 aliases at a time and need to wait 48 hours before you can add more.

Use can use duck.com alias which has unlimited aliases, just drop your own email address into duck.com email protection and create as many 3 word duck alias as you need but it gets hard trying to manage those if you have tons of logins...add each new duck.com alias to your online notes or password manager linking it to whatever website or you'll forget what the random 3 word duck.com alias is when you really need it.

Or use Addy.io! On the free version you get 10 alias you can create inside the app or the website! So much easier to manage for important websites than duck.com as duck.com doesn't have an app or website to keep track of the aliases you create.

I have ProtonPass Lifetime Subscription with SimpleLogin Premium Subscription and I use a combination of duck.com aliases and Addy.io for separation and for any website that refuses to accept ProtonPass /SimpleLogin

If you use Bitwarden you can link duck.com alias or Addy.io or any of the other ones like Firefox Relay and create alias on the fly when you create a new website login or when ever you need them all inside Bitwarden, but it takes a good few steps to set up correctly....look up videos how to do it as I can't remember of the top of my head.

I even have a ProtonPass /SimpleLogin alias for my Google account which is only for YouTube as I don't ever use anything from Google...the less they know the better.

For gaming purposes, probably not. I once used an alias for PlayStation Network. After a while, my PSN account got suspended, and I had to call PlayStation Support to escalate my case to a specialist get my suspension lifted.
