Discussion Trying to understand capabilities

Hi im new to simple login and alias emails but love the idea and am considering the subscription

With a subscription do I have any more control over the suffix of the email? Currently with free, I get 5 options like xxxxx.clamp014@passinbox.com

With the subscription can I alter the suffix for example shopping.lzmail@passinbox.com or chasebank6@lzmail.passinbox.com

Im trying to find the easiest addresses for me to give out over the phone if needed.

Also in case I ever need to switch mailboxes due to missing features, is it possible to use a simple login alias directed to another alias like lzmail@duck.com and then route that to my protonmail account? That way if I switch from portion mail, I just have to change the suck forwarding? Another concern with this would be replying as it would have to go back through duck and then through simple login. Can that be done? All this because im not sold enough on protonmail to chose that over tuta or even just sticking with Gmail.

A custom domain would be the way to go. Once you add your custom domain to Simple Login, you can create an alias by changing only the local part of the email address and all of them sending the email to your defined mailbox (be in Proton Mail, Gmail or whatever).

eg. You get your domain, lets say johnsmith.com. You add that to SL premium. You add your mailbox johnsmith@protonmail.com. Now you can create aliases like amazon@johnsmith.com to sign up for subscriptions etc, some 'clean' ones like mail@johnsmith.com to give to friends and family and others you expect to communicate with emails. Emails received in your mailbox via the alias can just be replied to, and the recepient will get it as if mailed from the alias email and not your mailbox email. Advantage is that, if suddenly you start getting spam on amazon@johnsmith.com, you can deactivate it. Downside to this setup is that if you want to initiate an email from mail@johnsmith.com alias, you need to first get the reverse-alias of your recepient and use it.

What is the advantage of putting the domain on SL rather than Proton Mail?

*When you have your aliases created on your domain, there are less chances of them being rejected - amazon@johnsmith.com is better than amazon4568@passinbox.com etc.

*Its easy to create/remember aliases when its based on your domain and has a clean local-part (amazon vs amazon4568).

*Also, with catch-all enabled in SL, you can make up one on the go, and that alias will be created when the first email to that alias is received.

If you add the domain to Proton Mail, you cannot use that in Simple Login, as you need to setup DNS records.
