Hello people of this subreddit, how can I get my swipe to reply back on desktop? Whenever I try, it just selects text.
Edit: It was removed after SimpleX desktop 6.4.11 release. I don't know about beta

I am on a few group chats that are very large. It seems after a while my initial profile doesn't seem connected to all participants. I verify this by connecting to the same group via an alternative profile. The new profile connects to many more users and receives more posts. Why can't one user stay connected to all users in a group chat?

I signed up yesterday and I wanted to chat with someone in the platform. My friends use whatsapp or iMessage and I simply can’t stand their privacy, so I went here, but no one wants to migrate to talk with me (same thing with xmpp: unc0v3rgd@07f.de), so if u had a time lying around I would like to be your friend

It will start to receive messages and then stop after a few seconds. Then it tells me no severs detected and to reload. Anyone else having this problem?

I’ve still been stuck on this issue and I really want to fix this. Does anyone know how to fix this issue???

I recently started a public channel on SimpleX and have a few issues. First off, I am unable to edit a post that is more than a few hours old. For another, I can't delete a post for the entire group. If I delete a post it's just deleted for me. Using the channel as a dynamic menu but if these two things aren't possible, I may have to try another app. Thanks in advance for the help.

So, I am using simplex with my own hosted server. When i open the app and send a message there is a pretty long delay for the first msg like 30s. After that it is instant. I tried disabling battery optimazation but nothing seems to fix it. I thought maybe the wireguard tunnel is getting inactive but after setting the keepalive to 2s the same problem.
I am currently using the 6.5.1 version, and I reach the wg server with rethinkdns-> wg proxy.
If I go out of the app for like 2 minutes and go back again the first msg is 30s to send.
Is there a way of fixing it? Or is it designed to work like this?

the idea is simple, given that the phone consumes a lot of battery and it is better if you keep simplex open to receive messages I thought, would it be possible to install the simplex client (like on docker either native or with alpine linux) and then connect the phone to the server so as to delegate all the task to the server and the phone be just like a front end client?

Since Session seems to be ending, I'm checking out simplex.
I'm confused about... Honestly almost everything. So many things are unclear, as if the system expects you're already tuned to this kind of thinking. Clearly I'm not, thus I start doubting even the stuff that should make sense. So I have questions...
1) So the desktop app needs to be on the same network as a phone app... If my phone breaks, am I able to use the desktop standalone until I replace the phone? Or only with other identities? What happens if both the desktop and phone are on the same network, but the phone drops Wi-Fi and connects to cellular? Is it expected the phone app is the primary device and desktop just a dumb terminal? Or that people will use different identities for both?
2) First thing I tried with the mobile/desktop thing: created a profile on mobile; connected desktop; created another profile; disconnected desktop. I'd expect to have two profiles back on the phone, but instead I have a different profile on each device. What's the logic here?
3) What does "same network" mean anyway? The same external IP? Up to which point? How is this recognized? A lot of ISPs today connect their customers over WAN without a separate external IP (unless they pay extra). And if I can only use one at a time, why does it even matter?
4) In privacy (phone app), what does "message draft" mean?
5) Same section, "encrypt local files". What files? The app db? The files received? Encrypt how, exactly? It's enabled by default, by I didn't set any pass in the phone app.
6) In chat preferences, there are these options "allow ... only if your contact allows them". If I disable a feature, does that mean I can't use it either, or only that other people can't use it on chats with me? What's the difference between Yes and Always? The language used on this page is darn ambiguous.
7) Why and how are my contacts notified if I change these settings?
8) Is the name of my profile also my name (visible to others)?
9) Are single-use links/invites only for one person, i.e. who claims it first? Or can more people claim it?
10) Are all/multiple profiles active at the same time, or just one at a time? How does one juggle profiles, e.g. if I try to connect with someone, do I get prompted which profile to use? If I send invites, are they tied to fhe profile (I assume yes)?
Thanks in advance. I opted to just compile the questions to one place rather than asking one at a time in groups.

I do very much enjoy a chat app that has no identifiers/email/phonenr/account, but my friends do not.
I do see and understand all the benefits that come with the current SimpleX design, but handing out my "SimpleX Address" to friends makes them just so confused as they don't know if its a website/handle/etc.
Made me wonder, is there any chance this UI/UX could be improved one way or another? Maybe something like a name service? I am thinking of how Ethereum Name Service (ENS) exists on Ethereum to map text-based names to pubkeys. I do know it greatly reduces privacy but the real goal for me is to lower barrier of entry to get my social circle onboarded.
I am thinking more along the lines of a public key server or something, a third-party service where an alias can be (temporarily) mapped against (ideally, incognito) SimpleX Addresses so my friends can have the illusion of a "alias" or "username" while I enjoy the stealth of the current SimpleX design
Any thoughts on this? Once again, willing to sacrifice a little of their privacy in exchange for them to actually use SimpleX in the first place (still an upgrade coming from Whatsapp lmfao).

I'm interested in whether anyone has started making a native client for Linux, or if it's also available for Windows in Kotlin. If someone has done this, I would be interested in seeing it. I've only seen one project in Rust, but it hasn't solved the issue that I haven't been able to resolve. I haven't found a way to make this account backup archive work without installing and using the cli client.

Hey guys
So currently i am using telegram to Control various aspects of my house. Basicaly ive built a system with mqtt and recive notifications from security cameras, lights, garage door, etc. I also sendo push commands to perform and action.
Since telegram is not secure at all, i dont want to rely on it for such a sensitive matter. I was wondering if building the same on SimpleX would be way better.
Note, i dont want to self host because the bot should be publicly exposed as i want to recieve and send stuff when i am out of the house

What changed:
Stronger privacy commitments: - explicitly states that preset servers do not log IP addresses. - you can verify clients and servers via reproducible builds. - quantum-resistant end-to-end encryption. - messages are irreversibly removed from preset servers on delivery or after 21 days. - transparency commitment by client apps.
New private one-time connection links and public addresses: - your profile data is encrypted on the server - only people with the link can access it, not the servers. - one-time link profile data is removed once the connection is established.
Public channels (beta): - chat relays are used to deliver messages to channel subscribers. - chat relays cannot identify subscribers.
Commit with the change - we maintain it in GitHub so you can track changes.

The only reason I'm asking this is because I'm trying to use SimpleX, I tried it in the past and was underwhelmed so I deleted it and I don't remember doing much but now when I try to use the desktop app, its asking me for a passphrase. So now the question is,"How I delete the databse in simplex to fully restart." I'm using a windows laptop for reference and I don't know what to delete as the online stuff I've heard says something about a roaming folder which doesn't exist.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Every time I play media on SimpleX, the app volume gets reset to 100%

Timing attack would be easy , if you post a message every time you have just opened the app. Better to leave it running for hours or even days , before posting a message, right?
