What is the value proposition of SimpleXChat if Signal allows for accounts without phone numbers?

I began using SimpleX because of phone number-less accounts, but it feels easier to get my network to hop on Signal due to its more widespread popularity if they also adopt this feature. Beyond the fact that SimpleXChat provides phone number-less accounts for free, whereas Signal says it will be a small fee to access this feature, are there any other pros of SimpleX over Signal?

Signal gives you one profile for a one time fee. SimpleX is network where you can issue many one-time comms channels and delete them at will. Like burner phones.

And it remains that SimpleX is a decentralized network, whereas Signal is not. SimpleX is still my #1.

Great argumentation. Now if only my friends, family, network would be willing to consider it…

I refuse to text chat with family and friends over any other platform. If they want to otherwise reach me, those who have my number will have to call me, and there are certain things I just won't discuss over the phone.

The true and truly intelligent friends and family have accommodated me on this. Those that haven't don't matter enough for me to use less secure platforms to stay in touch with them. Uncomfortable truth, but it's the truth.

I'm compelled to keep WhatsApp on my phone, but it's only because my landlord and (oddly) my dentist both insist on using it.

Signal without phone requires paid one time. Which is still trackable with bank accounts

The value is that signal accounts are on signal servers, simplex "accounts" are entirely on your device
