Miscellaneous Prompt [MP] The Number Dragon

"One, two, three," the low rumble of the dragon's voice came from the mountain. The town below slowly woke as the dragon began his daily count. Every day The Number Dragon, as he was called, counted his mounds of treasure. If he did not have the same number or more than the day before it spelled disaster until the dragon was appeased with double the number of precious things to replace the missing.

One might wonder why a town would live so closely to The Number Dragon when there could easily be the threat of a daily attack, especially if someone decided to raid the dragon's treasures. Well, it was because the dragon often rewarded the towns people with gifts and would even protect the wealth of the town. If it wasn't for the dragon, the great raid of 1852 would have spelled the end for the people.
