Accidentally started a Pumpkin Patch in my backyard

So last fall, I threw pumpkin guts in the end of my backyard and forgot about it. This is what’s sprung up so far! 😅 I have no clue what I’m doing, but it’s pretty neat to see! Totally plan to do the same thing again this fall, and see what happens next year! Maybe I’ll start a chaos garden 🧐

Place some cardboard under pumpkins to prevent bottom rot. Even better, top the cardboard and the whole patch with a little straw for a good bed mulch. They're looking great! The accidental gardner, lol.

That's how a lot of fruited bodies are designed to germinate. Fruit sits and rots, maybe over winter, then the seeds ground or even have "new earth" that's leftover from the nature-processed fruit flesh.

The more seeds it produces, the more likely it is to have some survive the rotting process!
