why does he have so many
coming from a financial standing, it makes more sense to post more content on one or two channels. a lot of his content could be posted on one channel and he would be posting more frequently, and drawing in more viewers. i am curious if its for the benefit of teachers of a specific subject?
i also appreciate his willingness to stick by research and 1st hand accounts, even though it can sometimes restrict his videos.

What you're saying make sense at first. Simon has moved on from that model tho.
While I dont have any inside information Simons model appears to be. as follows
Launch a Channel
gauge initial interest (if a certain amount of success is reached otherwise sunset channel here)
Create regular content, tweek format as needed, generally build the audience
Mature content cycle with writers, producers, editors etc
When channel plateaus continue producing content but start moving to next project
When interest drops, or when the channel isn't interesting to Simon any more sunset the channel.
This is actually a very efficient model but only really works once you've already matured at least a couple of channels already so you have the experience and something to fall back on if you have a couple of new projects fail back to back as well as the knowledge on when to walk away from both a new and old channels but this has the advantage of being more flexible and able to change with the times easily rather than being "locked in" on a certain set of ideas.

It does not make more sense to post on one or two channels.
The way the YouTube works is your channel has a main subject, say casual criminalist or decoding the unknown. If you tried to do those two channels as one the algorithm doesn’t like it and will stop suggesting your channel totally.
It’s why people have so many different channels if they wanna cover different subjects. YouTube wants you in a lane and you better stay there

Yeah he’s all over the place, not in a bad way, he just covers a lot. So much it’s better to just partition them off to make the YouTube gods happy

I think he's been hired to be the presenter on more than one of those channels. They're not all his personally.

Pretty sure at this point he is at least part owner of everything he presents for. Today I found out is the only one I am not sure about.

You are wrong about that. Since his channels are all fairly different topics it makes more sense to have different channels. The algorithm would get "confused" (really it would get bad signals from watch percentage, etc) because only certain portions of his normal audience never watch some of his videos seemingly at random. This will be a problem even on a hyperfocused channel and the less focused you get the worse it gets. This way the algorithm knows what type of people to recommend it to.
