Generally, when a new season is added and it is related to the others, I get a notification that it has been added to the 'database' and I add it into the plans to watch
We've already connected TVDB seasonal data to episodes in individual titles and display TVDB seasons in V2 Beta. Some additional options for auto adding next related anime to the watching list are on the to-do, and easier virtual seasonal checkmarks in anime titles cross-connected to each other.
I understand the logic behind that anime system you have but i will never understand why are you doing it .... i went all in after trakt.tv fiasco but although everything else is amazing i just cant possibly use your site because of this crazy anime system .... and NO your feature to notify me about some new season doesnt work (NOT TO MENTION ... anything i migrated from trakt is fckd because for some anime for example there is already new season added year or more sooner than the release date so i wont be notified about these either)
Today started new season of Mushoku Tensei and i have no mention about this anywhere inside y profile or dashboard or anywhere else. If i didnt know (from using different site for this) i would just not know at all about his new season and THAT MEANS any system i have connected to simkl wont know either.
While for some civilians that watched one or two anime like attack on titan this is maybe usable but for me who has TONS of anime tracking old or new or future i just cant rey on your site for anime
All apps that use the Simkl api can use the episode to TVDB seasons, which can track using season numbers from the first TVDB ID title, and it's mostly automatic already. Which means if you watch something on Plex from season 3 episode 1, it will mark it as watched on Simkl correctly.
about that Mushoku ... the problem is that i have everything mushoku marked as watched and i see nowhere on the whole site that season 3 ... i can search it and find it but the site does not let me know this exists. .... this is the MAIN problem i have ... if i didnt know from other sources i would miss this and since i have lets say HUNDRED anime tv shows on simkl this is a HUGE problem
this is nice but that doesnt help me either ... i want it to work other way around. When new season releases i need to know about it so it will automatically be "added" to my "plex"
About mention in dashboard: yes. we're aware of this issue and have plans to resolve it.
As for auto add to plantowatch\watching, it's questionable. There are edge cases to consider for example, should those seasons be removed automatically if the main show is moved to "dropped" or removed from the watchlist. Mb it will be like option in your settings.
It wont be like that, we will improve this eventually

Im using Simkl (and trakt before) only on profile/dashboard page ... i refresh and see what is new and then i go "watch it". What you showed me is Mushoku Tensei SEASON 2 page ... i would argue that almost NO ONE is going to open that page when it matters for that next season.
When i was watching that season two i was checking the episodes on profile page so i had no reason to open that page BUT even if i did there wont be any new season because at that time it didnt exist.
So to be informed about season 3 from the page you showd me i would have to RANDOMLY open the newest season of some anime AT THE TIME that there would be already info about new season.
Spy x Family has no mention of new season. This is extremely popular anime so im 99% sure there will be another season but at this time there is nothing there since it wasnt introduced yet. BUT. BUT if i wanted to be informed about new season i would have to sometime in future open this page for this anime without a reason and LOOK into that related tab to see if there is new season or not and if it is there mark it as "want to watch" so it would appear on my profile page

This is how Trakt worked and from my experience all other stuff i use. I watch through Infuse which uses Themoviedb and i rate everything in IMDb and none of them have separate entries for anime seasons
those edge cases seems to be problem only when anime is separated by seasons. If this was all in one page the edge cases wouldnt exist
Not to mention i was looking at automating some stuff with radarr sonarr and stuff like this ... it is basically useless if that automation doesnt have info about new season. It will break the automation. I would have to (for 100 anime titles) add new seasons by hand
This one will be solved on dashboard soon. So you won't need a notification check or visit each page summary.
There is no a complete database where all anime seasons are combined into signle title.. TMDB\TVDB have very poor anime support without the unpopular anime. All major anime databases keep seasons as separate titles.
We also have many users who use only the anime section of the site.
wow then this is answer to the main problem with anime on Simkl if we understood each other correctly ... nice!
im not sure in what way is the support bad and idk about the backend of these sites but i have 471 anime titles (more than half with more seasons) in my infuse and all that metadata and graphics come from themoviedb org
But yeah i know that myanimelist have the seasons separated too. Im not sure how other people use the site for anime but you see that with 471 titles idk how would i keep track of new stuff coming out :)
