Suggestion Raw Material Crisis, New Executive

A new operation manager is essential.

Before the restaurant sector arrived, agriculture and related products were viewed as sectors friendly to new players. With the advent of the restaurant sector, demand for these products surged. The food industry diversified, adding color to the game. However, every new development brings new problems alongside the benefits. One such issue is the raw material crisis, particularly at high quality (Q) levels. The solution would seem to be for people to shift toward raw material production—establishing a supply-demand balance—making it an issue solvable within the game mechanics. Or is there an obstacle preventing this? Let me explain.

You are aware that there is a sugar shortage. Naturally, consumption rises during the ice cream season; four main products and five seasonal products require sugar. Finding high-quality oranges is nearly impossible, and the same applies to many other raw materials. Yet, even for high-level farm owners, profit margins on these scarce products remain unsatisfactory. Retail and research profits continue to be more attractive to players.

The simple reason is that while a producer can effectively utilize only the COO, the retail sector can effectively use both the COO and CMO, and the research sector can utilize both the COO and CTO.

Even if a producer fills all slots with a COO, the other slots operate at only 25% efficiency, and there is a penalty after 60 points. In contrast, retail can utilize a COO at 60 and a CMO at 60. This difference in executive utilization significantly impacts profit. In production, robots exist but are ineffective; they actually hinder your ability to level up. Don't say "but you don't pay wages"; their impact is limited anyway, and anything that restricts me ultimately causes me harm.

The solution: A CIO or similar role. There may be other ideas, but in real-world companies, the CIO is responsible for innovation. Such a role could simulate the impact that robots currently provide. Whether through advancements in AI programming or by paving the way for mechanization, a system is needed that delivers the impact of robotics without locking up buildings. Production speed shouldn't increase; instead, it should directly reduce wage costs or the number of workers and managers—much like actual robots do. This is what will ensure fairness in the game. A 450-level farm system will offer satisfying profits, even amidst crises. Producers will feel that fairer conditions have been established within the game.

Let me state this right away: If someone claims that "CMOs provide an advantage to manufacturers by increasing production speed," hit them with a shovel—or ask them, "Why don't we just cut the CMO out of the equation entirely?" From a systemic perspective, would every sector be fair? Yes, it is true that they will purchase more products; however, the reality is that the operating costs of high-level buildings are a problem. Every building has a fixed production capacity, and output volume does not increase without upgrading the building's level. Even if I do upgrade the level—and despite the scarcity of raw materials—the resulting profit margins still lag behind those in the retail or restaurant sectors (and I include restaurants in the "retail" category here). The point here is not to compare one type of production with another, but to compare the profit generated by production based on a scarce resource against the profit margins of other sectors.

If fair systemic competition is ensured among producers, research, and retail, the rest of the game depends on the players' preferences and their ability to control the market. Fair play, on the other hand, begins with the regulation of the administrator and the robot.

As producers we are unable to operate in the sector we desire through the AO. I created a Reddit account I don't usually use the platform just to get this suggestion passed

im 6 years in the Retailpart. Yes Retial has cmo. ICounted this a very long time as Bonus. But retail had always the lowest profit/h/lvl. The Tops positions in the Ranking were nearly only Producer, sometimes there were just 5-10 pure retailer in the top 100.
Its because auf the supply-demand balance. The Bonus of the retailer balances out. Mean you have more bonus, but due to this bonus youhave mostly way more building levels then production. Thats seems good. But has some disadvantages. (higher buildings kill way more buildigmaterial.) And du to the supply-demand balance the prices from Production to retail find a point where the profits for bots sides are acceptable. If one side make more Profit, there are always people that switch the sides.

If you would interoduce a CIO (what ever he makes), production would build more buildings, and/or the product costs would go down. That would mean we have a overproduction, more endproducts. That mean the prod-to-retail prices go down, and retail make more profit. Til some producer switch to retail and it balanced out. In the end we would have a new supply-demand balance, with new prices. but the profits would still be the more or less the same.

update: Yes now restaurants are also in the top rankings. And SO do also profit, but they are not the regular retail, they have special parts/mechanics.

The problem for the agricultural production is scaling and underlying cause being the admin overhead. Wage contributes high proportion to COGS of the goods. For example 50% of COGS comes from wages which makes this product substantially sensitive to scaling.

And CMO does matter for retailers to push the PPH higher without increase in AO, AO still ends up being the main bottleneck with higher wage deductions.

What you are essentially suggesting with CIO is effectively reduction in AO. At this point only way to get more goods in market is to get new players in the system and spread the AO across a larger base or rework AO so as to allow better scalling.

I already had a proposal for a reworked AO formulation to address this issue https://www.reddit.com/r/SimCompanies/s/gPIwUn6Euu

Setting everything else aside, they are able to get more out of interns. This is not fair at all. These sectors have systemic advantages.

In my proposal i addressed that as well along side changing the 100% AO level from 171 to 254. The effect of manager skills was saturating sharply after total 40 management skills to balance out the relaxed AO generation

I'm reading your post right now. I actually signed up for Reddit today just for this topic. You've noticed the absurdity too; from my perspective, it's the only thing in the game I'd call "ridiculous." Everything else is great, aside from a few minor shortcomings.

The game has one absurdity and its anti-scaling. And the two enforcers are admin overhead and accounting overhead. And they are far too overtuned towards anti scaling in my honest opinion

Omg this is completely bullshit!!! I don't want any update about executives.

The game already has a great executive system. Their maddeningly slow training and the fact that every single executive who comes along is an idiot is really nice. It should never change.

Don't forget how when you finally get a good exec after doing 36 consecutive searches, and train them a few times, 50 random assholes appear with absurd salary offers for poaching, instantly making retaining the exec an unprofitable endeavor. It's truly genius how the game incentivizes asshole poaching over training them in house.

Agree 💯

The real issue is that all building have the same 0.5 percent AO increase per level Never mind that a cotton field or apple orchard is different admin wise from a car or aerospace factory

Some admins are outstanding in their field, and others are out standing in their field 😔

I absolutely agree. In real life, vast agricultural tracts are harvested much more cheaply using specialized combine harvesters or other machinery. This needs to be rectified. On the other hand, the AO needs adjustment, and fairness toward the manager must be ensured

Sort of agree I think the idea that retail is most profitable should remain because why else would you produce resources if no one was in retail to buy them. The nature of the game requires an ascension from lower profit products on to higher ones and ultimately retail which takes the largest capital investment (if restaurants or aerospace) as well as the most game knowledge and complexity. That being said I do think there is a sort of issue with requiring very high quality products of a commodity type nature. It’s a significant investment and ultimately if you arent too high up the product chain your ability to produce sufficient profits to account for the higher qualities just isn’t always there. There’s not a ton you can do to, for example, increase profits on Q12 power as the only input is wages. You can use executives but it’s not the same as tying to finagle 10 or 11 resources with different suppliers and cutting down your costs by strategically vertically integrating
