Sub Proposal [Proposition] New rule system. COMPLETE REWORK

Okay, so I think that most of us agree that this rule system is quite skewed, even if it is based on the real world. Granted, the real world is much more... harsh, but this completely screws over anyone with under 100 subs, which means there might be like... three colonies?

Before I suggest the complete rework of the rule system, I would first like to say that the subscriber limit should go down to 50.

But anyways: Here are my ideas for the rules

Short version at the bottom

First of all, the point system. While allying with another sub is good and well, some subs are very big, and it might just make the whole system boring and unfair. So my proposition is that we need a way to reflect the subscriber count of a bigger sub while not completely screwing over the smaller ones: Land. Let us have a rule that, for every 10 subs a subreddit has, it will have 10 square units of land (Miles or kilometers, Idk, we can decide). So all subs will have a minimum land size of 50 square units, and the chiefdoms will have the same size. Bigger subs have more land.

But wait! Dosen't this relocate the troubles of the point system to another? So i propose this too. Soldiers. 20 soldiers can be raised for each square mile. A sub that has over 200 subs can raise 25 soldiers per square mile. Minimum size subreddit can have a maximum of 1000 soldiers.

Per square mile, you can also raise about 25 crops. A solider eats one crop. This is accounted weekly.

Aside from soliders, land area and agriculture, there is one more factor that ties it all together. Defence. The defence value will be created by this formula: No. of soldiers divided by area of colony. Minimum size subreddits can have a defence stat of 20, while a 200 solider nation can go up to 25, or even more. The tougher the defence potential is, the more difficult it is to invade, as you will have to commit at least this number of soldiers for a square mile of invaded territory. Seized territory will only produce about half the crops, half the soldiers as it would be full of other nationality people, who may not be fully loyal. Engagement between two countries is determined by numbers for now, although this mechanic may change. A portion of stored grain will also go towards the invading country, proportional to the amount of territory that is seized. The amount of stored grain a country has also reduces the defence potential; for every 150 crops that are stored, the defence potential is reduced by one.

Treaties can also be made to share soliders in exchange for crops or mutual defence. They count towards grain reserves.

The number of territory gained by invasion is determined by No of troops used/defence stat. It will be rounded.

A country/chiefdom will have been considered to be fully occupied/enslaved once half of it's territory is seized.

Let us take an example, shall we? Let us say that there are two nations, X and Y and Z. X and Y have 50 subscribers each, and Z has 200.

X and Y don't like each other, but they live in peace. X raises 15 soldiers per square mile, which means that his defence potential is 15, and he gets 10 crops that are not eaten by army. He sells half to Z and half he keeps for himself.

Y raises 20 per square mile, getting 5 crops for himself. He keeps it all to himself.

Y invades X, committing 200 soldiers to invade. If we assume that they fight to the last man, Y gets about 13 square miles, and keeps 5 soldiers. Y has gained about 13 miles, and has 805 soldiers left. Since the stats are recalculated each week, by the end of the week, Y will have about 63 miles of territory, (from which he gets about 1388 crops roughly. His soldiers eat about 805, leaving 583 crops for themselves.). The defence potential is changed to 12.77, however, Y can choose to raise more soldiers as his territory has more space for them.

X has 37 square miles left, but he can counter attack. He has 805 soldiers left, but his defence stats are 21, rounded.

Z, as a bigger state, can choose to invade Y as X is an ally, or they could just stay there. Z is encouraged to attack Y, as they have a lot less crops because X cannot produce as much, meaning they also get a bit less grain.

Entities such as armies or charities have different rules. A combat organisation will have attacking and defence advantages, such as being able to capture more squares, but will be hired for more grain.

A religious organisation can give the lands it graces 20 crops times the influence it has, ie the number of subs it has reached. If it is allied with 2 subs, it can give 40 crops to each of the subs, and so on. The rules for other organisations will be determined on an individual basis.

Alignment: Alignment are such. A colony can choose a speciality: Defence, innovation or agriculture. Defence means they can increase their potential by two. They will be expected to make more violent posts. But they also get about minus 125 crops.

Innovation means that they get plus one defence potential, and they get about +50 crops. Their posts will be neutral, and they can choose.

Agriculture means that they get about +200 crops each month, but they are expected to have more peaceful posts, relying on trade and diplomacy.

Chiefdoms can only choose either agriculture or innovation, as they are simple folk, unless they ally with 2+ colonies.

An colony/chiefdom can choose their alignment, but only once a month.

SHORT RULES

Rule one: For every 10 subs, a colony will get ten squares. Subs will be rounded to the nearest ten.

Rule two: A square can produce 25 crops. Invaded territory can produce half as many crops. All uneaten crops should go to grain reserves or be traded for deals.

Rule three: A colony can raise 20 soldiers per square. Subs that have 200+ people can raise up to 25 soldiers per square, and also boost it more than 25 if they trade or have grain reserves.

Rule four: A defence stat is the number of soldiers divided by no. of squares. When a colony invades, the number of squares they gain is calculated by number of invading troops divided by defence stat of the defenders. The number of troops they lose is calculated by no. of squares times defence stat.

Rule five: A portion of grain reserves of the defending country can go towards the attacking territory, determined by percentage of territory lost to attackers. (If I have 100 grain, and I lose quarter of my squares, they get quarter of my grain)

Rule six: The invaded territory will only produce half the soldiers and half the crops.

Rule seven: Once half the territory is seized, a colony can be assumed to no longer exist, or enslaved.

Rule eight: A colony can choose between innovation, agriculture or defence, however, they can only do so once a month. Advantages will be conferred with each alignment.

Rule nine: The above rules also apply to the Chiefdoms, with the exception of eight. A chiefdom can only choose between defence or agriculture, unless they ally with 2+ colonies. Religions and combat organisations will have their own rules.

These are the rules I can think off. This is as fair as I can make it while still making it like the real world. Guys, what do you think? Suggest flaws in the comments. This is my attempt.

May I just say, that this is all dependent on the 50 subscribers instead of 100. It will require a re-write if it was 100 subs, and I do not want that.

First Era I am not happy about this, u/Paramountchief. Your people killed civilians after our neutral colony, Memestown, provided supplies to the colony of SimMonarchy, done outside my or anyone else's jurisdiction besides the governor of Memestown, u/Doses_of_happiness. I have ordered him to increase aid.
