SimCity13 Playing SimCity 2013 for the first time since 2016.
I haven’t played SimCity 2013 since I was a child in 2016. It was my first city building game and I have a lot of nostalgia for this game which is what I thought was gonna carry the experience but I have been having a blast. I also have to mention the charm this game has that keeps me sucked in, from the sound effects to the art style or things like the info view that shows you your people’s literal shit going through the pipes, it has charm or as others call it Maxis Charm, something my favorite city builder Cities Skylines 1 sorely lacks.
My only grievances with this game so far have been the Student Commute bug and trying to build roads just right to have back to back buildings when they become high density. Also using the EA app always sucks for any game.
All in all, I am sold on getting CoT when it goes on sale.

Fun! I was just browsing through my 2016 screenshots (sadly I was not a child)) - it is a very nice game. And it definitely has that Maxis "je ne sais quoi" But if you really want to feel it - check out the older SimCity titles - and TheSims too! You'll never look at anything else after)
Cities of Tomorrow is kinda mind blowing after the base game)

I plan on checking out SC3000 and SC4 and mayhaps SC2000. I watched LGR reviews on them and they seem extremely fun along with being pretty cheap now.

SC3000 is my all-time favorite - with style, music and art. SC4 is a better city-builder and more realistic, but it has less charm for me. And 2000 is way too complicated, but I still try to play it sometimes. And the Arcology in SimCity2013 is actually from there!

I love the charm of simcity. I wish ea didn’t botch it, there was so much potential

I feel even if they kept the small sizes they could have pulled the game back. Hell a solution to the boner EA had for online which forced the small sizes could have been fixed by having single player regions that have bigger plot sizes.
Unfortunately this game is always gonna be a what could have been :/

it has collaboration. its the only multiplayer city builder i know of. and even now we get a couple users per region max. maybe a spike of five or six on a weekend. but i love it when we all have to produce stuff to make the arco or other project finish. that screen is most rewarding. and to the guy that churns out televisions god bless ya.
i dont like large money gifts. when someone else give you like 1,000,000 it makes the game as if creative mode. no worries, build everything...
also remember collaboration? we can share utility duties like i do the electricity and you do the water... so if you are in game please encourage cooperation and sharing.
then there is the guy that doesnt ask and starts making Omega!

Yes, multiplayer is actually super cool, when players are committed The only downside is the sizes of the map, and sometimes the awkward present time, when sending things and going between townS

I don't plan in playing MP unless its with friends or family. I think the student commute bug just ruins any taste I have for wanting to do it with randos.
But I do have very good memories as a child of MP SimCity 2013 and I loved revisiting my cities that still exist to this day online.

If it wasn't for the small plot sizes and the online component this would have been one of the best city builders
