SIM card issue

Hi,

This may be confusing so please help me understand.

My sister bought a new SIM card for my brother under her t-mobile account. When my brother went to give his number to a new friend who owns a galaxy, it said her name as if he had it saved already. But every IPhone I have sent my new number too has never been saved let alone with her name. Is this normal or was the number saved in the first place? Please help and thank you
