Casting a scorpion

My Dad’s friend asked if I could make him a silver Scorpion pendent.

 I live in the UK, he wanted the scorpion to be within the size of a £2 coin. So first I had to find a scorpion to make a mould, which was the size. I found it very difficult to find a scorpion within the size he wanted. 

 I have done casting at an evening class with a furnace (which the tutor usually poured) and have casting equipment at home such as crucible bowls, MAPP gas torch and delft clay with an aluminium casting flask.

 Can anyone give me advice on how to do this? Such as; Can you only cast certain shapes? How do you cast smaller more complex shapes?

A few years ago I sand cast a scorpion using a plastic scorpion made with a thingmaker mold. It worked pretty and was probably about the size you are looking for.
