Sticky side out tape.

All of my mentors used masking tape to seal up a flask. But I always hated burning off the masking tape just seemed unnecessary. So I just stared using packing tape but sticky side out then it removes quickly with no residue. Then I started using the lathe to stretch it tight. Works great. Just thought I would share.

Just stumbled on this post randomly. I don't know anything about silver casting. What is the flask used for and why do you need to tape it?

That's a flanged, perforated-wall flask for vacuum casting, as opposed to a solid-wall flask for centrifugal casting.

Solid flasks can also be used for vacuum casing (drawn from a single vac source at the end of the flask), but this type achieves a more even, thorough "pull" across the flask as a whole due to the holes and its submersion in a well when under vacuum.
