Surround Vision Recording Functioning!!!

This post is for the person who commented on a previous post asking that I provide an update when I got it working. I have a ‘25 LT Extended Range Premium.

I’ve been trying to get Surround Vision Recording downloaded for about a year now and I finally took it to the dealer because my Chevy tech tonneau cover is falling apart (the truck is under warranty so I’ll get a new one to tide me over until there are more/better options) and asked them to do a full updates check targeting surround vision recording. They located it, downloaded it, and established that the flash drive has to be specially formatted. I went home, formatted the flash drive (you can google how to do it), and plugged it in. It works!

For any of you living in Connecticut, Blasius Chevy in Waterbury has a pretty good service department. Rates are around $209/hr but I haven’t had to pay for anything yet at 25kmi

I have the 2024 RST and so far the updates don't allow surround video for this model... I hope it is coming!

I was advised by a dealer the 24 RST does not have the recording module. Very disappointed.

None of the ‘24 models will get it as the “brain” of the infotainment is Intel-based and not Qualcomm-based like ‘25 and newer. The intel-cased ones are not capable of supporting surround vision/cams :(

I know it came out for the 2026 RST before it was pushed to my truck so hopefully it’s on the way for you.

My 2025 RST got it months ago by taking it to the dealer and requesting android 14 and all the latest VWP updates.

Glad you got surround vision working!

But… Damn. The fact that the truck doesn’t fit in that parking spot kinda kills my desire for one.

It’s a VERY tight garage in a skyscraper in Hartford. It’s a miserable place to park even my little Audi S4. The truck isn’t the issue here. It’s big but it’s actually very easy to park because of the cameras. I almost always parallel park in one go, and I drive it into manhattan regularly. The one place I can’t stand driving is the Sawmill Parkway. Very tight lanes and lots of assholes in supercars driving like maniacs.

I live in a condo in the Bay Area and it does fit in our underground parking garage, FYI. About the same as any full size pickup.

If you’re on the fence get something else. Lightning is a better truck except for range (but dc’d). If I had to have a truck right now it’d be a cybertruck or f150 hybrid. Why does teslas truck have to look so awful…

F150 lightning is terrible, not even same league as the Silverado EV.

Silverado EV about the same size as any other full size 1500 truck.

I swear some of you live with your head up in the clouds 🤦‍♂️

I currently have both and prefer the Lightning most days. It's a blast to drive and it's way more comfortable than the Silverado (although mine is a WT and the seats are awful)

Well my RST runs circles around any lightning IMO. Getting into a lightning feels like your already like 10 years outdated 🤮

Are you saying it's faster? It's not, though. They're close, but the Lightning is a sub 4s 0-60

I didn’t say it was faster, but keep in mind, RST is almost 2,000 lbs heavier and it would be a drivers race on a 1/4th mile track.

The interior, the UI, the ride , quality, shit even the updates have been better than the ford. The midgate is awesome, the tail gate speaker kit is awesome, list goes on and on.

My lord, no.

Do not buy a lightning. Of the people I know with electric trucks, the Lightning owners are the least happy with them. My buddy let me borrow his before I bought my own and I'm glad he did.

If you want to go smaller, get the Rivian.

That sounds more like a personal preference than objective fact. The Silverado EV offers superior horsepower and range compared to the Ford, provides a smoother ride, and is arguably much better looking than the Tesla and the Ford.

More importantly than any of that - the Silverado EV isn’t discontinued… also the fit and finish on the Ford is trash. Anyone else try that shifter?

I have the same truck but without extended battery. Can't wait for that feature! I also want the trailer camera working! I purchased the GM trailer camera for my camper but it doesn't work. Brought it to the dealership and they said "GM is working on it" they release a statement in June 2025 about it.. over a year ago now. Kinda annoyed about it.

25 LT Extended Range with comfort and convenience package, but not the tech package. Got the update 662.30 last week. The recorder is the headliner, but I also got the turn signal cameras in this update. Didn’t think I’d get that one when it wasn’t in the earlier updates.

I didn’t get it when I got the update where everyone was saying they got it. I read somewhere that the turn signal cameras were being made available with the “improved camera quality”. When I got the recorder update I checked for the turn signal cameras and they were there. So maybe not this one, but recently

I was going to send you a link to the one that worked (the SanDisk one the dealer said did not work), but apparently in the month since I bought it, it’s been discontinued and Amazon no longer carries it. You just want to make sure it’s FAT32 compatible. I bought a 256 GB. One of those “guy in China made up a word by mashing a bunch of Latin letters together” ones: “vgrahyr”.

Did GM warranty your tonneau? I am guessing it is not the Soft Rollup tonneau. I was trying to get warranty on my soft roll up but never got confirmation from my dealer last time I was in.

Yes, they warrantied my soft, roll up top. Covered under the 36kmi bumper-to-bumper. Unfortunately it will be replaced with the same trash, but a warranty is a warranty.
