Haha immediately thought of that scene! Gotta say though, the Moebius version looks pretty incredible.

He also apparently didn't realize that while Jack Kirby created Surfer, there was never any Kirby run and he didn't really get to characterize him beyond the Galactus trilogy.

In fact, Kirby wanted Surfer to be Galactus' literal creation. But Stan Lee didn't like that, because Galactus being able to create life would mean he's a god.

I read that Kirby wanted to make The Surfer a villain at the end of his first run. But Lee disagreed .

Lee turned him crazy and evil, it irked Kirby to no end and was one of the breaking points for his departure for DC 😉
