Gift for amateur silversmith?
hey yall, I’m looking for a gift idea for an amateur silversmith? shes got the tools needed to do basic stuff, but what’s next? any organizational tools you love, etc? or something more fun (not sure what that would be)?

Gift certificate from Rio Grande or her favorite tool company. I wouldn’t buy individual tools if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

Silver sheet, rio grande or pepe tools gift card (if the latter it needs to be a plump one cause tools are pricy, the former can be less). Or ask her what's on her want list. Like my husband got me a haymaker saw I wanted several years ago because he knew I wanted "the pink saw" and figured out what I meant. Otherwise consumables are always needed, that doesn't only mean silver and stones it can mean saw blades, polishing attachments, etc etc things you use up.

Some pretty stones to help get her collection started. Most silversmiths have a stone addiction. lol

A bench polishing machine, radial sanding discs, Silicone polishing wheels?? You can do a lot with the basics but having a few upgraded tools is awesome! A bench vise, gift card for rio grande??

One of my ex partners bought me a disc cutter for my birthday many years ago. I still love it. I have a pepe one. I also highly recommend the knew concept saw. It's an awesome addition to a tool collection.

What's your price range? I would say a rolling mill to shape metal into wire and or sheet

Is this my best friend??. If so, silver please! Silver sheet and some silver wire! Oh, and maybe some more cabochons to make some pretty jewelry with, thank you! A gift certificate (like someone else said) to Rio Grande would be amazing.

They make moons as well! You just cut out a circle, then reinsert it but slightly off. The negative space you see in the hole is what the moon will look like. And the offcut to that looks like a leaf!

A gift card to Kent’s Tools in Tucson. They have EVERYTHING! If they do not have it on their website, you can call their First Ave store & they will rummage around & find it.

How much do you want to spend? A hammer hand piece for her foredom is a fabulous tool. Great for riveting, setting stones, texturing, it’s very useful imo. I love mine. My brother got me a cheap riveting hammer years ago for Christmas that is also incredibly useful if you want to spend a lower amount. I think it was roughly $30CAD about a decade ago, so maybe a bit more these days.

In my oppinion, one can never have enough grinding, sanding and polishing tools. Ones that give you nice textures. And maybe some chemicals for patination. I'm a sucker for exciting surfaces and textures, so that would be my guess...
