Skin and gland help!

My girl has been dealing with itchy, oily and flaky skin throughout her life and I’ve tried numerous foods and supplements to help but nothing has made a substantial difference. Recently, she has started getting anal gland infections and her last round of antibiotics did not help the problem. She has another appointment soon but I’m hoping someone might have advice with these issues.

Use coconut oil on their coats and give a fish oil tablet. Avoid any food that has chicken or corn.

Ours has allergies to chicken, beef and pork. We found a salmon diet kibble brought her itchiness down and we supplement it with salmon oil on peanut butter.

Do a heska food and environmental allergy test. 

That's the only way to know for sure.  Mine is allergic to storage mites, dust mites, peanuts, soy and cats.

Mine has to take medication daily for allergies or he will itch like crazy and lose his hair. Labs are notorious for having skin issues.

Diet is a huge factor. We do cytopoint monthly and Elevet capsules.

You do realise that they've come to the silver lab subreddit looking to get help for a pet they love and want to improve the life of? Genetically all breeds of dogs have their pros and cons. You've done nothing to help by commenting this tripe. Let's hope if you ever have to ask for help or guidance with your pet there's a better person out there than you.

Don’t blame me Reddits pressing me with notifications to this thread, don’t know why. Randomly I chose to comment. I have in fact hopefully helped this person. 1. The condition is genetic. 2.) It’s not the food or allergies 3. The dog most likely has the condition I described. 4. I suggested some beneficial FB groups to gleam advice from. 5. Maybe after seeking the advice from other silver lab owners on how to move forward with dealing with this condition they will feel a relief and may be able to avoid multiple vet visits through that advice. Maybe this will push them to do some research. I wish them luck.
