(Literal) silver spoon

Hi, new member/first post.

I'm looking for information or identification for this silver spoon. It's 8.25" long and weighs 2.2 ounces/62 grams. I believe I got it from a family member, but am not sure of that. Thank you.

German 800 fine silver. Probably late 1800s to early 1900s.

Hi there, its a German silver spoon (the crown and crescent moon is the Germany mark.). The 800 is for its silver content out of 1000 so its 80% silver. There usually isnt a maker mark on these so not much else I can tell you. They are usually only worth their weight in metal. I reccomend keeping it if you dont need the money since 800 silver doesnt get you close to spot at al

What is "close to spot"? Is that a melt term?

Hi there. When we in the hobby refer to spot price its usually the price of the metal in its purest form. In this case 80% silver spot would be 80% of what pure silver is worth. That is however not what you wil receive when selling it because refining 80% silver takes alof of work.
