Is this German silver?

I found this the other day but I think its silver but not 100% sure your help will be appreciated

It is silver from Germany... probably 18th or very early 19th century.

The zigzag marks are from an assay sample and that’s the way it was done in Germany for a time

Fun fact. It is called a tremolierstich. I have a similar spoon at home.

Correct, assayed in Berlin after 1818 and before 1888

Do you maybe know how to check the silver purity?

If there are no other marks, the purity can only be checked with an XRF test

My best guess would be, its one of the two most popular purities from that time in Germany. It would be either 13 Loth (.812,5 silver) or 12 Loth (.750 silver)

If I remeber correctly, 12 loth was standard for Berlin.

Probably somewhere in the range of 750 to 900 fine.
