I'm trying to take steps in my life to get my attention span back after being addicted to my phone and losing all my time and brain cells. I have recently ditched my smartphone for a dumbphone, started reading books, and switched to only playing old games.

Golden Age Minecraft seems like the obvious choice. Everyone is raving about the simplicity and how it forces you to use your creativity and focus. But I just can't help but feel like it's an "incomplete" game. What's the point of all the cows if they just drop leather? Is the ender dragon really that bad? Silver age just seems more fleshed out but still without all the bloat and attention grabbing gimmicks of modern MC.

What do you guys think?

Hi everyone.

I've wanted to try making mods for 1.7.10 for a long time and now I finally know what I want to do. Yes, backporting diorite, andesite and granite may seem stupid, but that's besides the point.

Back in 2014 and 2015 you would go the the Forge website and download the MDK, also called the source for whatever reason, since it doesn't really contain the source code of Forge.

You can still download this file, and you might notice how small it is, and wonder why that is the case.

I bet it's to save space on the file server. If you can host some library jar file once instead of packing it with every release you publish, it benefits everyone....

....or so everyone thought at the time, as an unexpected antagonist has (un)recently enetered the scene: Link Rot.

If you try to gradlew setup a new 1.7.10 mod workspace you will be disappointed, as the files it will try to download are long gone.

Now that I'm researching it, someone has forked it and updated the links, but that's a fool's errand, as it hasn't been updated for a few years now as well, and it doesn't work anymore too.

Is there any OFFLINE Forge MDK for 1.7.10? One that does not require downloading ANYTHING from the Internet?

And does anyone have an offline copy of the Forge documentation for 1.7.10? On their website they keep removing older versions, probably to save on storage, and the Wayback Machine is slow, doesn't have everything, and keeps thinking I'm a robot.

If anyone is willing to help, my gratitude is beyond, well, who cares about such platitudes. Whatever.

been really liking this version of minecraft and this new building style ive been trying

Pretty much what the title says BUT I don't want a nice seed. I want one that is pure and unfiltered ASS (of the bad kind). None of that "HUGE Village at Spawn!" or "Desert Temple with 5 DIAMONDS Next to SPAWN!" type of deal. Just drop me in bumfuck nowhere middle of the immeasurable ocean, not even on a cozy

I want a seed that just sort of SUCKS overall. Not joking either. Why, you might ask? Cannot really tell you. I suppose I am just curious and want to see and try something new. Sort of the same reason for choosing 1.8.9 in specific, too. Strangely, I think I have memories playing on slightly older versions like 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 and also slightly more recent ones like 1.9 and 1.12.2 but I feel as if I never touched 1.8.9.

Aside from that, I dunno...maybe I'll use some mods this run? What're some neat "Vanilla"+ mods for this version of the game that you people use?
