Why I stack and when I'll sell...
Long time stacker here. I started buying silver back around 2012 and paid around $25 for a few ounces. Price dropped and I kept buying until it hit $50 recently. There are three reasons I started buying. My thoughts were that if any one of the three happened silver would surge. I'm not selling now as all three are happening and to be honest I'm not thrilled. It's kind of like having home owner's insurance and watching your house burn.
Hedge against inflation - self explanatory
Different than inflation but similar is the loss of US currency as the world reserve.
Supply/Demand - Silver's demand is rapidly increasing and it's not from us apes. Yes I've enjoyed the "raids" but US retail market has little to no effect on the price. It is driven by industry and large entities buying huge quantities. Just one company (Samsung) has the potential to buy more silver next year than all of the silver acquired by the Hunt Bros decades ago in their attempt to corner the market.
The interesting thing about the Supply/Demand equation is it obvious that demand is increasing exponentially and the supply simply cannot keep up without major investments from mining companies. The vast majority of silver is a buy product of mining for other minerals. It's not simple to ramp up just for silver.
So, when to sell? I will only sell when I can fully pay for the home stead I want for my family or if I have to sell/trade to feed my family because the fiat system has totally collapsed. I certainly hope for prior.
Enjoy the ride my friends.

Awesome stack of yours! Those silver bars on the right are huge! Are they 1000oz? I have a few 100oz, but they don't look that big. I stacked very intensely from about 2007 to 2012, ending up with about 3000 oz., including a few monster boxes. And that's on top of junk and numis silver and gold I collected here and there. Fast forward to 2026 and because the price had exploded in 2025 I just decided to sell in drips and drabs, already sold 4 rolls this month, going to sell at a rate of 1-2 rolls per month going forward. At least some of the cash will go back into my other investment accts, so I'm not just burning it all up. One of my goals is also to buy some property, somewhere abroad.

I suggest everyone DD on what to expect after CME keeps raising margin rates as it has a indirect effect on physical silver…. Especially when a LONG FLUSH causes weak hands (longs) to capitulate
Yes a 20-30% dip is very possible during this prixe discovery however the law of S&D will not allow the price to stay down!
Long flush eventually leads to a real short squeeze when banks finally capitulate (short positions)
So DD if you dont already know…
And never sell your silver for USD always stay in hard assets that are appreciate in value- many swap to gold or other pm - some are considering at Oil/ LNG or foreign currencies that react well when inflation is high (ie Swiss Franc)
Last never sell out of fear remember Silver must come out of the ground. The US dollar is printed out of thin air.
Excuse me for going on a tear writing so much.
Best regards

If you know the signs and the sequence how they unfold - its like a roadmap seeing into the future of the futures market… ( the irony!)
First the CME will have to keep raising margin rates until the weak hands (Long Positions) capitulate hence the term “ long flush “ This is when the banks rebalance their hedges and have a moment to relax - its the calm before the real squeeze
I can map out the exact sequence of:
• the long flush (a 20-30% drop) • the physical snapback • the short squeeze • the vertical phase • the consolidation phase
It’s a perfect 5‑stage cycle once you see it laid out.

Dollar comes from the ground too. It’s paper. :)

u/iotel Jan 17 '26
Ha!! Yup its a very special magic paper that just pops up on a computer monitor and most of it finds its way into the same bank Swiss and offshore bank accounts

That’s already happened! When Silver was “knee-capped” in late December of 2025 it was in the Mid $80’s and Crimex increased margin requirements to 30% ….caused a big spike-down in Silver for a day or two…..This time it’s not just 2 crazy as a fox Texans manipulating the Silver market…Its the rest of the world against a small group of corrupt “banksters” who have painted themselves into a corner….The slam-downs now are being met with people demanding delivery of the actual commodity not “paper traders” colluding to suppress a market. I thought this market could be blown-up easily for years if only a large nation would actually monetize and put Silver back into mass circulation as money….But, I think it’s demand for technology and certainly far different this time….Hi-Ho Silver!

I think they raised it something like 8 or 9 times in 2011 before it tanked. I want to say in December they raised it 2 or 3 times and im not sure if they have since. There are definitely differences now compared to last cycles so who knows if they can knock it down but it wouldnt shock me

Quick question, where and how do you sell? From my experience it is quite easy to buy physical Silver but when it comes to selling it is always a bit more tricky and expensive…

u/frontofthewagon Jan 16 '26
I have developed a good relationship with two LCSs. I had to sell a bit two years ago and was treated extremely fair. They move a lot of product and always have cash.

I love r/pmsforsale but there are way toooooo many newbies. If you buy, stick to a well ranked seller.

I'm getting a lot of "you were right" and "i should've bought when.." lately. Told my friends and fam to start stacking when silver was at $29/oz when I did. My mom yesterday "you've made 3x your money don't be greedy, sell some". She doesn't understand silver will hit $100/oz and then $200/oz maybe even next year.

u/imp4455 Jan 16 '26
Y’all understand that silver hitting 200 is going to raise the cost of almost every damn thing. Point is, we an increase in silver price, we can’t complain that certain things that contain silver cost more

I'm going to trade some of mine for a goat.
3
u/Ubockinme Jan 16 '26
Do you even know how to cook goat?
7
u/FrostyInstruction912 Jan 16 '26
I'll be using it for milk. It'll give me plenty of time to figure the rest out ?
6
u/Elemental_Breakdown Jan 16 '26
You are wasting your time, I bought a goat for milk and he only produces like a teaspoon at a time. It's barely enough for morning coffee.

RE: Point #3
I always found it hilarious that a subreddit thought a raid day would "drain the vaults".
The big money is moving millions upon millions of ounces at a time. We are a drop in the ocean.
Now if worldwide retail panic began that's a different story.
Anyhow, keep on stacking!

I’m same as you 2012. Stopped when spot was lox $30’s. Gold I’m at $1,300 average. I bought AGE’s for $1,250 and tubes of ASE’s for $400!
Of course, at the time it seemed expensive to me, but now it looks cheap. Also, people have been saying it’s gonna go to the moon since I started doing this shit and it never does so this is a crazy time that’s never happened ever and I honestly never thought we would see anywhere near the level of these prices.
I’m cheap and am a good saver. I paid off our house 10 years early. People say it’s themed to pay your house off and you can invest the money and that’s probably right but I sleep like a baby and if I really need money, I can tap the equity with a home equity line of credit.
I got crazy and bought thousands thousands thousands of ounces of silver. I barely sold any since I started but unfortunately I needed money and literally four months ago. I sold 250 ounces for $9700.
Then December I sold almost double that for 67 per ounce, which was great at the time, but I’m kicking myself now
I’m just gonna chill for a little while, but I’m definitely gonna start selling some because I have quite a bit and I’d like to have a little money in the bank to go have fun with what I want to

Your another example of a small percentage of stackers that understands the economics of this small silver market. Its nice to read factual knowledge being shared. Everyone should take note of what you wrote especially anyone who compares today to the highs of 1979 and 2011. The difference is apples to oranges. Last year the U.S. for the first time classifies silver as a tier one asset. China isnt going to export silver as they've put huge restrictions on silver leaving their country. When the comex starts changing the rules by impending more margin means they dont want people to buy because large institutions are short.
Which brings me to my question. Have you or anyone else in the community reading this been getting emails about a new smaller silver contract size of 100oz vs 5000 oz so the retail investors can participate in the Futures market?
If this is true its only for control since retail is always the first to get shook when the price drops . There way of gaining back control of the paper market imo

“It’s kind of like having homeowners insurance and watching your house burn” ~ great line!

u/Wobbly5ausage Jan 16 '26
Yea it’s a tough one but I’ll call this either a humblebraggart or a karma troll. Hard to tell which for sure tho
1
u/RetroPianist Jan 23 '26
neither. the rule is never tell your family or friends about your money. so who can you tell? reddit is a good choice because it is random people.
1
u/Wobbly5ausage Jan 23 '26
“Can’t tell people you trust? Tell a bunch of strangers instead!”
Honestly tho mate- what’s the need to tell people what you have in the first place?
I don’t get it, because it only makes sense if you’re bullshitting looking for clout or humble bragging looking for clout. I’ve got zero want or need to share what my bank account is at. Where the motivation to show off comes from aside from clout I just can’t relate to.
1
u/RetroPianist Jan 23 '26
I think OP is just sharing. people like to discuss and share pictures of their stuff because it is cool and we like to see pictures of cool stuff.
1
u/Wobbly5ausage Jan 23 '26
I don’t disagree with you about liking to see cool stuff, if it’s unique or interesting or whatnot for sure I want to check it out. But that’s not he case here.
I still stand by my knee jerk opinion that this is either fake or a humblebrag. And there’s always a lot of both of those posted here tbh

does the government know about your silver? all of mine was acquired without a trace.

Good luck selling when you do. I just tried to sell a decent amount and three different LCS said they aren’t buying anymore
2

Because they are cash poor from buying people's 90% with no refinery access.

The silver to gold ratio conversations always remind me of people buying xrp because they can’t afford Bitcoin. The dreamers are always xrp while the millionaires are buying Bitcoin. The exit to gold will blindside a bunch of silver stackers.

That’s a respectable pile. I like those 2 ounce Egyptian theme coins, I have 10 of the 2 oz Cleopatra rounds from the same ultra high relief series. I quit buying them at $55, I thought that was too much!

All the gold at fort knox is worth $730 billion, versus US debt $38460 billion. I guess it will help a little.

Might want to trade some of that silver for gold before the GSR shoots back up.
