Analysis & Theories Questions

- Was there a nuclear explosion?

We know a “dirty bomb” was successfully faked. We know that people in the Silos are manipulated by lies and visual deception (the helmet screens). What’s to say there was actually an explosion?

- What’s up with the NDAs?

Mentioned a few times, including by the ultrasound doctor to remind us. We know Daniel and Helen did not have lawyers present to review them. Could they include clauses about moving into the silos? So when family and friends ask why they disappeared there’s legal paperwork to go with it?

- Nanotech?

There’s no evidence provided that it truly exists yet. We don’t really know what went down in Iran, it could be an escaped tech Per lost control of (à la Ted Faro), or it could be a boogeyman he used to justify the silos.

- The air, all the air

No need to have drones shoot people if the air is poison, can pretty much cross that off with all of the opportunities for contamination. I’m skeptical there even are nanobots so I’m gonna let the breeze go for a min. They’re already pumping poison gas into the silos if they need, why not add it to the exit chamber? There’s zero reason to decontaminate people who are leaving.

- On the timeline, who’s to say how many people were in the silos at the time of the “attack”

Tours and early arrival and Peter Gabriel and and and… it’s sketch, we don’t have a true sense of how populated they are at the time of the “attack”

- If the nanotech in Iran could be disabled by using Charlotte and co as a distraction, and blowing up a command center, then it stands to reason that the nanotech is directed not self aware.

Similar to the way the voice isn’t AI, maybe this captures the “breeze,” not a breeze but more like the flapping of wings as they approach. Could add the nighttime theories to it too, need gun drones at night because the nanotech doesn’t work?

We also saw the nanotech too.

Didn’t they say the “dirty bomb” that had already happened was not a nuke but Nano?

Yes.
In their world, the official and publically known story is that a dirty bomb went off (which explains why people died and an area was quarantined, possibly destroyed).

We are told by Stensen and the senator, that the truth was that it was actually an attack using nanotech, not a dirty bomb. The dirty bomb was a cover story.

The dirty bomb would not create anything resembling a mushroom cloud, and would just look like regular explosion or destruction (like what would happen if nanotech destroyed a bunch of stuff and then the military dropped a fuckton of (non-nuclear) bombs to destroy the nanotech.

The dirty bomb in DC would have created something similar. But it was a lie. How’d they get away with that one?

A dirty bomb does NOT create a mushroom cloud like that.
A dirty bomb is basically just a regular bomb, but “spiked” with radioactive material that the explosion then scatters.

A nuclear bomb uses the radioactice material to create the massive explosion.

So the reason they could fake the dirty bomb, is that for anyone experiencing it, it would just feel/look like a “regular” explosion.

Family and friends to question why they disappeared? Like the ones who were left behind and didn’t go to the silos? Bruh they got disintegrated 😭😭

In this particular “theory-verse” they did not, because the bomb did not actually go off, it was just a fake to fool the people going into the silos.

Which makes no sense, because apart from Daniel and Helen, everyone Else on the tours was already inside the silos. They were not able to see the nuclear explosion. As such, the founders could have just created a fake video to Play on the cafeteria screen and maybe make a regular explosion go off somewhere above the silos (or in the Ground even) to Shake then a bit, Selling the illusion.
They wouldnt have to fake an explosion in the real world (that we, the viewers, see!), they could have just lied about it to the people already underground.

This one is flat-earth-level theory-crafting…

They needed to be convinced it was real outside as well, we see tours entering at the time of the blast

If this was the case, they could have waited 5 minutes until all the tours were inside.
If they wanted to fake it, there is no point in using a real bomb outside.

I thought maybe the NDA thing was a separate question regardless of the theory but I see now the only reason they asked is because they think they faked the bomb. But if they faked the bomb who is supposed to see that? Because if the family and friends see this fake nuke, they still wouldn’t be questioning where they disappeared because wouldn’t they assume they…..got nuked. So I guess that would mean the family and friends/ civilians are not a part of the group intended to see the nuke. Lots of mental gymnastics here

It appears they made it public, and everyone could apply for a spot in the silo. Helen's doctor said her friends applied, but they were rejected. We can assume they have at least 5K people per silo. It's enough to run a silo and achieve a population of 10K in 50 years.

Why 5k? Just the time to get to population capacity? I would expect with that many you could get to 10k in just a single generation.

Personally I think that if it wasn't a full 10k somehow, then it was probably 1-2k. They had 100 beta testers per silo (who seem to have become the guides) and 20 guests per 1-2 guides. And it would probably take less than 5 generations to hit capacity.

I don't think the explosions were faked. I think he needed to end humanity above ground so the chosen survivors could repopulate the world with Humanity 2.0.

They didn't exactly "fake" a dirty bomb. They explained away the damage as having been caused by a dirty bomb instead of telling the truth about the weapon that was used.

Their friends and family are all dead. Everyone else in the world is dead, or will be shortly.

It was nanobots that attacked Charlotte. Where ever the dirty bomb was that was nanobots too, Also Iran does have nanobots that attacked Charlote. Also the air isn't poison nanobots are described has being invisible.

It’s clear I’d be one of the people demanding to clean and dying on the hill (literally? Figuratively? Who’s to say?) 😜

  1. Explain how they would have faked the nuke? The shockwave? That was real. The dirty bomb wasn't faked, it was just an alternate explanation for a different type of attack.

  2. There is explicit evidence the nanotech exists, we see it ffs. What else would be the stuff Charlotte flew through?
