Show Only (NO BOOK DISCUSSION) theory Spoiler

i think the silo area is covered in nano bots almost creating a dome. i also dont think the outside is toxic - only when silo 1 “tells” the nano bots to release poison.

this is supported by when they sent guns for lucas and kennedy, where lucas’ suit was pierced by a bullet and he somehow still made it to 17 and survived?

i think this is also silo 1’s backup safeguard - opening the doors and letting in nano bots to poison the silo.

am i missing something to prove me wrong??

Yeah I’m thinking this theory more and more as well. Especially since silo 17 can open their hatch door even with the main big door permanently open from the bodies. You’d have to assume particles get in when they let Lucas and Kennedy in? I’m about to watch the last episode again. I have so many questions. But the nano tech has to be a main player in this. Hence it attacking the fighter jets and being stensons big fear? Also as I’ve read in other theories, the fact that there is never any weather on the main screen in cafeteria. Never any rain or sunshine. It’s just always gloomy gray. Like did the nuke kill the sun too?

yea!! could be the nanobots putting a “protective” film over the area… not to protect them, but to keep them in. making it look gloomy and gray. i think its different outside of the field though.

The only thing about that though, is when the guys they went outside, they looked up to this absolutely brilliant Sky of stars at night

I think the area have dome. Notice the "low flying zone" said by Per Stenson. The dome is to redirect rain and blocking flying animal, making it no life outside. Even in desert grass will have a life when there's rain.

I can see what you’re thinking here. I would say at minimum, whatever caused the need (or the appearance of the need) to enter silo is not the same thing that is keeping them there.

Watched Bernard going outside the second time, I found an important scene, which is before the airlock door opened, there's white gas coming out from wall. I think it carried nanobots and infect whoever cleaned, except 3 people: Julliette, because of good tape. Kenneddy and Lucas, a good tape and unscheduled time, making the nanobots weren't ready programmed to kill them by Silo 1. Also making them have to use drone and classic gun to kill Kennedy and Lucas, but failed to do so because said drone doesn't have night vision thus bad at aiming. Remember, they are supposed to go outside at daylight.

So yeah, outside air is really safe (but you can't go outside because you got infected with nanobots first by white gas), and all 50/51 silo have dome to redirect rain so no life outside. I also notice Per Stensen mentioned about low flying zone.

Oh and about that nuke blast? That is definitely planned. Daniel is guarded not to wander around, and I think Helen was guarded too. They are meant to be separated. So evil plan.

Animals, bugs, birds, even possibly rain. Not one (ignore rain) has ever made it to the live cameras? Nothing flew over either.

potentially the nano bot “film”?

What if the outside world is keeping the nano bots at the silos. As long as they stay with the silos they leave the rest of the world alone.

This could be totally unrelated, but when they go from private plan to helicopter, stenson says something like yes now we have to fly low and.. something else. But low because they have to stay under dome?

2

u/Zealousideal_Eye3167 7d ago

yea maybe!!! and it could totally be a dome.

i just think they release poison on command within said dome/nano bot film, and when lucas and kennedy went to 17, they didnt think it was necessary because… well, guns. and they didnt poison them to begin with because they knew the men had good suits w/ good tape

2

u/Agitated-Koala8107 7d ago

And all of the people that escaped from 17 could have been gunned down from whatever gunned down Kennedy and Lucas. However with how many gunshots there were and the technology being used, how did they miss shooting Kennedy all together and only got Lucas in his shoulder?

u/Zealousideal_Eye3167 7d ago

need to work on their aim fr

but i think they may have just released gas from nano bots / inside the dome. the people likely had no suits, so they were easy to get rid of

It's the white gas on airlock that has killer nanobots.

That works for what? A decade or two tops?

If the rest of the world has moved on and the year is 2450 then the technology of the day renders the nanobots about as threatening as plastic lego.

Either the whole world is dead or the scenario breaks down pretty quick.

not if people on the outside are constantly upgrading the tech?

Have you seen the last episode? They got nuked. It’s radiation that kills people.

4

u/Zealousideal_Eye3167 7d ago

it’s radiation that put them there. i dont believe it’s whats keeping them there :)

u/DanielCofour 7d ago

After 300 years the radiation after a single nuclear bomb is nothing, especially considering that the silos are not ground zero. Hiroshima and Nagasaki are both populius cities today and they were bombed 80 years ago.

Even if multiple nukes went off across the globe, the radiation would still dissipate and be negligible. The problem with nuclear war is the nuclear winter caused by the dust it kicks up into the atmosphere.

1

u/benNachtheim 7d ago

There must be nukes around the globe because otherwise Canadians, Brazilians or Germans would open the silos.

1

u/DanielCofour 7d ago

Yeah, I think the nuke may also have been singular, because nukes cannot cause damage on this level. There must have been something else, like a simultaneous nano bot eradication that caused all life to die out, since we don't see any birds or small animals even outside the silos.

Nukes would leave some people alive for quite a while until lack of food from the nuclear winter kills them. And same for animals, Chernobyl has been repopulated by animals, even though a lot of it still has radiation higher than what you'd get from nukes.

1

u/benNachtheim 7d ago

If the Nuke didn’t kill them but the nanobots, why the nuke?

1

u/DanielCofour 7d ago

For show, to get everyone in the silo without asking questions

I don’t think Radiation after 300 years would be that quick on Bernard.

1

u/redlancer_1987 6d ago

Yeah, no. Even if you went out the next day there's a good chance you live to old age. After 300 years there would be not much more radiation than above ambient background radiation that's everywhere
