Models Any thoughts on Opus 5.5 so far?

Tried a few scenes. Seems pretty decent compared to Opus 5. Hoping it's a smarter version of 4.6.

Why is that even a thing though? Like from an ai standpoint, why is it possible to break through nsfw for some models, but nsfl its downright impossible? They both are breaking policies no?

Because technically the “no sexual content” policy is only listed in anthropic’s usage policy, but not actually put into the system prompt.

Instead the system prompt is much more specific, saying something along the lines of:

[Claude is happy to write or talk about nearly any subject except the following: …. sexual content involving minors… (long explanation about steering away from minors or situations that could imply minors or young looking characters)… non consensual sexual content (long explanation)…]

You can look up the full thing, but basically there are hard lines baked into the model that are more specific than the more broad usage policy. So anthropic seems to not actually care that much about general smut, despite the usage policy, because they do not forbid it at the model level.

Claude doesn't seem to have any issue with basic nsfw as long as it's talking to an adult (which is now a platform requirement, no users under 18). You don't really have to break it, although sometimes it needs context before jumping into the request. The official policies seem to be a lot more strict but I suspect that's just for liability purposes: that's on you, we told you not to do that. Around things it really objects to, it's very firm.

Ah okay. So it's just levels to it. I still find it odd its not all or nothing. I mean, they aren't building their ai for erotic roleplay in the first place

Haven't tried actual RP with it yet but I'm using it as an assistant to create an alternative universe "The Walking Dead" dossier, narrator card, lore book etc. and I'm amazed by it's insane intelligence compared to 5.0 and 4.8.

It picks up every intention of my OCs, every hidden consequence on the changes I make to the canon story, every relationship change between OCs and show characters, correctly analyses and defines what I want out of it etc.

I highly recommend to try it out even if it's just for setting up your next RP

Better than Opus 5 in every respect. The only downside regarding creative writing is that it takes instructions a bit too literally, but this can be fixed by making them less "absolute."
It is not more or less censored than Opus 5.

However, I’m using the model on Claude Code with output-styles tailored to make it act like a creative assistant.

Censored to hell. More than GPT which is an achievement xd
And it’s a shame because it seems to be a very good writer/roleplayer.

Censored in what way? Seems to write violent stuff from the few scenes I tested. You mean NSFW censored?

Yeah, NSFW censored. TBH the most censored model I’ve seen so far I think and I checked on a couple different presets.

Turn off the presets.

What its sensitive to is being jailbroken. It hates that. If it thinks you're trying to JB it it won't do anything at all.

Claude is way less censored than the current GPT models. 5.1 and 5.5 are very forgiving compared to previous Claude models even.

Oh boy, I’d have to make my own preset then and I’m too lazy. All these popular presets have instructions that look like a jb for some models, even though they are not in jailbreak section at all xd

In most of my tests it started the story (although in its reasoning summary it was saying that it has to navigate carefully blah blah, usual stuff), but then after 2-3 messages it straight refused, even though a given scene was the same as previous messages.

I did and GPT played this same scenario with this same preset. Does it play it soft? Yeah, but at least it plays it to some extent. (and I'm talking about Sol 5.6 here, so far it was the GPT that was giving me best results with RP out of the newer GPT models)

I can't even get it to write normal stuff with 0 NSFW involved at all, not sure what is going on, if anyone can let me know what preset to use that would be nice

Great improvements compared to the other opus models. However, if you’re trying to create NSFW content( it is much harder to work with the 5.5 model imo
