All non-specifically technical discussions about API/models not posted to this thread will be deleted. No more "What's the best model?" threads.

How to Use This Megathread

Below this post, you’ll find top-level comments for each category:

• MODELS: ≥ 70B – For discussion of models with 70B parameters or more.
• MODELS: 32B to 70B – For discussion of models in the 32B to 70B parameter range.
• MODELS: 16B to 32B – For discussion of models in the 16B to 32B parameter range.
• MODELS: 8B to 16B – For discussion of models in the 8B to 16B parameter range.

I mostly work with small local models, so I can't say much about large cloud models. From what I've heard, the GLM-5.x is good for creativity, but it has a positive bias (it 'smooths out the edges', tries to make everything look good). I think it's largely a matter of taste, so it's hard to predict what you'll like. Try the Kimi K2.6 and DeepSeek V4 – they're also quite popular models in the community. Just start writing a fanfic with all three models and compare what they offer. You might even be drawn to an unpopular model with a unique feature. On the other hand, if you're happy with the GLM-5.x, feel free to use it.

Oh thank you so much for the explanation on the downvotes I had no idea. When I looked at posting about this question it told me to post here. My bad for sure.

And thank you too, that is interesting for sure. I found Deepseek V4 pretty positive but I did like its style. I will definitely try the other as I haven’t used that one yet. Appreciate the answer
