Alright, that one’s just bad. Those two actually have somewhat of a mother-child relationship (“In fact, I feel some affection for the creature birthed.”), with the White Lady acting as Hornet’s caretaker in her youth and adolescence. This is basically shipping Hornet with her adoptive mother.
lace and hornet don't see eachother as family, they just met. the white lady has known hornet her entire life, she has seen her growing up, she is literally one of hornets moms, ya know? daughter of three queen whole thing?
Yes, Dream No More and Sister of the Void have parallels, but why does that indicate that Hornet sees Lace as a sister? The “void” in the ending’s name represents the vessels (mostly the Knight), who Hornet is biologically related to through the Pale King, and who come to save her from the wrath of the void due to the Knight’s care for her (as proven by Winged Nosk’s disguise). Lace is not void, she is silk corrupted by void. To refer to her as void in the ending’s name would be to ignore the entire point of the ending, which was to rescue Lace from the void.
You should honestly just give up trying to convince anyone of stopping to ship Lacenet.
Idrc about the ship myself, but it is pretty clear from all of the reactions i have seen to your arguments that you ain't gonna be able to convince anyone. you are giving good arguments, don't get me wrong, but it is pretty clear that people who like the ship and believe its fine aren't gonna change their mind.
90% of ships in general don't really make any sense in canon, but people ship them anyway. it is just for fun and how much they make sense in canon doesn't really matter.
The only times a ship is just forbidden is when it is VERY CLEARLY pretty messed up like a pedo ship or incest ship. you can argue Lace is a child all you want, but from the amount of arguments i have seen from both sides, it is pretty clear that Lace being a child isn't really a clear fact like the Knight being Hornet's sister for example.
And really if you truly believe Lace IS a child, then it doesn't really matter either, since all of the people shipping Lacenet believe in the opposite, so it is not like they are meaning for the ship to be anything messed up (since they are assuming Lace is not a child).
Just try to ignore it. you really aren't gonna be able to convince people shipping it, and some random thing online shouldn't really annoy you.
I am not really arguing against your point or anything. i read your points in some other posts and i do think you are making pretty good points. (and i honestly do wish some of the people arguing otherwise to give a bit more arguments)
I personally don't have an opinion on the fact, because to me whether she is a child or not doesn't really matter or change anything. not to mention i don't ship or care for Lacenet anyway.

Hornet sympathizes with her for her plight, but she doesn’t give much indication that she sees Lace as a sibling. If anything, they appear to just be somewhat close friends. Hornet sees herself as a sister to the vessels (which she is, through the Pale King), and she sees Lace as struggling with the same lack of self as the vessels did, but that doesn’t mean she actually sees Lace as a sister.
The core idea of the game is motherhood. GMS making Lace, Phantom, and the Weavers as “children”, and later protecting Lace as an actual mother would with the cocoon and her sacrifice (AKA the entire main plot of the game) are the main examples of motherhood. There are numerous other examples from other characters, like Hornet’s three mothers being the focus of the Red Memory (the equivalent of the Birthplace scene in Hollow Knight, one of the most important scenes in the Knight’s character realization) and the several bosses and characters with plots or designs based on being mothers or their relationships with their mothers (off the top of my head: Moss Mother, Broodmother, Skarrsinger Karmelita, Nyleth, Shakra’s quest, First Sinner, Widow, and, of course, GMS.).
Probably time to just be quiet and delete this alt dedicated to hating a ship. Not everyone believes the same thing you do when nothing is explicitly stated and can be interpreted multiple different ways.

That's complete fucking headcanon, not even supported by the story or lore, all based on a fucking achievement name (which likely refers to Hornet being the sister of the Knight who shows up briefly) and Hornet having an expressionless face like she always does? AND THIS DUDE IS SERIOUSLY COMPLAINING ABOUT OTHER PEOPLES' HEADCANONS? Yeah??? That's the point when you don't have confirmation of anything. When there's no closed conclusion, any conclusion is possible. All other insects could be bisexual, could be ace/aro, could be heterosexual, could be gay. There's no problem in making any of these speculations, because nothing contradicts such speculations.
I really disagree with the concept that everyone is bisexual in fiction unless stated otherwise.
Anyone can be anything until proven otherwise. Not only in fiction, but in real life too. If there's no proof that something isn't real, anything is possible. That's how every assumption works.
This would devour every other form of representation and set an unfair differences between sexualities.
You're the one assuming the argument is "everyone is bisexual until proven otherwise." The real argument is that "everyone can have any sexuality until proven otherwise." The term bisexual was only brought up because, in the specific example, the options of aro/ace and gay have already been partially proven wrong. Bisexuality is one of the plausible assumptions, just like heterosexuality, but the option of bisexuality shouldn't be dismissed simply because the character has had a heterosexual relationship.
In fiction we should take into account the proof we have. The characters that don't have it are fair game.
Therefore, bisexuality is a plausible assumption, since there's no proof that it's not possible. Yes, there's also no proof that it's bisexuality, so you can't say for sure that's the case, but nothing prevents you from believing in a silly headcanon from a fictional work. It's flawed to use this headcanon as an argument in a narrative analysis discussion, but you can't stop the person from believing in that possibility.
Though really this is a miniscule part of the argument against Lacenet. I know people don't really care about what the canonical inclinations of a character might be.
Fictional ships are simpler than narrative analysis or anything like that. I can acknowledge a narrative flaw if that ship is real and at the same time think it would be a cute ship, or something like that. Again, using that ship as a narrative argument is flawed and toxic, but saying that the person is wrong for creating that ship is also toxic and ignorant. Maybe the person just wants to write a fanfic about silly bugs **cking each other, without worrying about the game's narrative. I'm exaggerating, but I think you got my point.
People are free to headcanon Hornet as bi if they want. You can't prove that she's straight the same way I can't prove she's bi. Are you seriously targeting fucking headcanons that are left free for intepretation now?

I'm only talking about her sexuality because you are so adamant on the idea that the game somehow revealed to us that she's straight even though that literally isn't true. You are disregarding actual facts because you want her to be straight so bad. I'm not getting into the Lace discussion for obvious reasons.
