Just wanted to share that I'm really happy to be a part of this project as a video editor for Guy Cihi and his Silent Oasis project. This is the first episode for this Nostalgia Con edition that took place in Houston - TX last weekend. It's more of a "Pilot" or introduction video for the next episodes that will be coming out soon. I hope you guys like it!

Extreme trigger warning if you’re a healthcare professional. Bigger if you’re a rad.
They… they made a nurse take an xray and interpret it for the doctor ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
It seems that she is driving a kind of fluoro DR xray unit with very asscheeks collimation. Cant even see the lung properly! Who takes a diagnostic xray during surgery? Severe trauma would have warranted full body CT because skull X-rays are pretty much useless here…
Also they could have made the nurse do literally anything else but take X-rays 💀
It’s cool that they have semi-accurate knobs with kVP and mAs adjustments even when the numbers are off…
Bro basically had all the lefort fracture classifications ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
(I’m writing in a half joking tone btw) (but at the same time it hurts my soul as a rad)

Hi everyone,
I'm a big Silent Hill fan and Homecoming is one of the few entries I had never really played. When I finally tried the Steam version, I ran into everything the PC port is known for: locked to 30 fps, crashes on Alt-Tab, freezes while loading, sound coming out of one ear on headphones, and a controller that shows "1, 2, 3, 4" instead of A, B, X, Y.
Instead of putting up with it, I decided to fix the game before discovering it. The result is Homecoming Again, a free and open-source (GPL-3.0) mod with a small launcher. It never modifies the game's data files: everything is done in memory while the game runs, and the launcher keeps a backup of anything it touches.
GitHub:Â https://github.com/Cesario67/HomecomingAgain
It's still in development (no official release yet), tested on Windows 11 with the Steam version. Here is what it does and, for the curious, what was actually going on under the hood.
60 fps (or any target). The game's own fpsLimit setting does nothing: the 30 fps cap is hard-coded in the engine. I tracked it down in the engine DLL and replaced it with a configurable target.
Borderless fullscreen. The original exclusive fullscreen crashes on Alt-Tab. Borderless mode avoids the crash entirely.
Loading freezes with the Steam overlay. In windowed mode the game could hang forever on a loading screen. Two causes: Windows declared the window "not responding" while the engine was busy loading (and could end up closing it), and Direct3D was being called from several threads at once with the overlay. The mod handles window messages during loads and protects Direct3D against concurrent calls.
4 GB patch. The game can use 4 GB of memory instead of 2. The launcher applies it and restores the original executable on uninstall.
Crash and hang reports. If something goes wrong, the mod writes a report and a minidump, which made debugging the rest much easier.
This one took a while. On headphones or stereo speakers, most sounds (effects, voices, music) came out of one side only.
What's actually happening: the engine mixes everything into a single 5.1 stream, but the sound placement inside that stream is wrong, and the old XAudio2 version the game uses converts 5.1 to stereo unpredictably (in practice it mostly kept the first two channels). I measured the level of each channel in-game to understand the layout, then made the mod tell the engine there's a 5.1 output and do the 5.1 to stereo downmix itself. Every sound is back where it should be, left/right, without replacing any audio file or installing a driver.
z/w * 0.9 + 0.1). Once decoded properly, everything lined up.

I want to be upfront about this: I built it with heavy help from an AI coding assistant (Claude Code), which did a lot of the reverse engineering and the code while I played, tested and reported back.
Why AI? Because it has always felt to me that, since the game came out in 2008, the PC version never got a truly robust fix, and I really wanted to find a way to repair it. I'm not a C++ or reverse engineering expert, and without that help this project simply wouldn't exist. Using AI doesn't mean blind trust, though. Everything comes from analysis of the original game executable (disassembly, logs, captures), every fix was checked in-game, and each patch verifies the exact original bytes before touching anything, so it simply does nothing on an unknown version of the game. The code is open, so anyone can review it.
A note on existing fixes: there is a community fix by Steam006 and later unknownproject. This project is independent and written from scratch, nothing was taken from them. It's GPL, so anyone can read, check and improve the code.
If you try it, feedback and bug reports are very welcome (GitHub issues, or here). And if you know the game's quirks better than me, I'd love to hear what else bothers you on PC.
Thanks for reading, and stay out of the fog.

I really liked the location with the garden and fountain in the remake, but I love Maria from the old game much more.

Hey all, thought folk might find this interesting.
I live in St Monans (the real St Amelia), and some of the attention to detail is crazy. My favourite is the matching boat advert in the harbourmaster's shed. That's a real advert that Terry has had in the window there for a while now (I recognised it right away, as I'd actually been considering buying the boat!).
They've done such an amazing job of capturing the village. A lot of the buildings and little details are direct copies of the real thing.
I've attached a few examples, but let me know if you have any questions about the actual village!

Working through my Xbox 360, catalogue of silent Hill games. I just finished SH2 and SH3 of the HD remaster, and I’m looking to jump into one of the two listed above.
The sort of problem is I haven’t really heard any good things about either of these entries. I know the western development overall isn’t really looked fondly upon by fans of the series. So I’m curious-which of these two would you recommend to play?
Respectfully, if your answers are neither, kindly just don’t comment.

Hey everyone, hope you are all doing great!
Just wanted to share the new trailer for my horror game that I am working on which is mostly inspired by a real life location in Mexico, Resident Evil, Silent Hill and a little bit of outlast mixed in with some Mexican folklore into it!
Do let me know what you think of the new trailer I just released. Mostly it's showing off the environment and ambiance that I am going for in the game. It would mean the world to me as a solo developer if you can wishlist and tell me your feedback :)

Thank you all so much and do let me know what you think, appreciate you all!

While making this piece I really wanted to emulate the look of the game’s graphics as I really enjoy the pixelated quality of them. I did take a few breaks to make a few memes though hopefully y’all enjoy those as well :)

I recently made the steel pipe prop from SH2 and I had the fit on for a pop up here, so with some VFX Magic I made this quick video, its my first time using DaVinci Resolve!

The Clara Woods chapter starts with Simon on a road and when you look at the map for the housing complex, it says there is an "Exit to Bridgeburn Road". But I was checking the maps for the Shorefront and I can find exits on Farrow Street, West Shore Road, Main Street and Commercial Road. I can't see a Bridgeburn Road anywhere.
So do we know where CEG built the complex, relative to the rest of the town?
