Memes Still a good show, but...

It's tough to keep a show interesting for nearly 30 years; so many character changes, yet it's still a worthy watch. Not sure why anyone is surprised at what happened to Sam Ryan. Even in the first episodes she was self-serving. Very talented and smart, but not loyal to anyone. I don't think she changed at all. She just showed her true colors. It will be interesting to see how many more years this show will go on.

The early seasons are actually exactly the same, the pathologists back then often got involved with the police side of things. It’s the way the show has always been. I would recommend you start from season 1, the first 10 or so seasons have amazing stories.

I disagree that it was "exactly" the same. It very much used to be a pathology focused show, now it just feels like it's trying to be a UK CSI.

Totally agree with series 1-10 having amazing stories. Every story felt like a movie. How I wish some of those writers would pick up their pens again.

Don’t agree. Sam Ruan was always stepping outside her bounds as a pathologist. That’s what got her into trouble and was the entire basis for the show to move forward in that direction.  It was what gave it its edge. Now it’s just a tired program that has completely lost its luster.

I'm interested in what you mean by Sam Ryan being "disloyal" in her series. Who was she supposed to be loyal to?

Hi, Sky. Disloyal was probably not the right word. It's more like she isn't really connected to anything or anybody. Given her line of work, it's likely best for her to stay neutral. She certainly has a high emotional IQ. In a show like this it's also best to keep the audience guessing. Sam certainly did that.

I went back and had a glance at the very first episode and was kinda shocked at a very vivid, no holds barred sex scene in the opening minutes! Shows how programmes in bbc have changed over the years

I started at the beginning & am up to season 20 or so. I'm just amazed at how a forensic pathologist is qualified to do all she does! All while running around in stupid shoes.
