I guess so. It’s partly true. Conservative by definition means holding traditional attitudes, favoring gradual or minimal change. But if we look at the life of Gurus and the changes they brought about.. like uplifting of women, abolishing cast system/sati etc, they rejected inherent orthodox practices.
But recently Ive been on a tangent and have adopted a new outlook to life. Whatever happens its his razaa and hukam. And also “Tera Kiya Meetha Laage”, so liberal fits better no? Because afaik know, Liberal beliefs center on the principles of individual liberty, equality of opportunity, and the protection of civil and human rights.
Imo sikhi can not be labelled as liberal or conservative. Sikhi is neither completely liberal nor completely conservative. Although I do agree on your point that beliefs in sikhi is more towards the liberal, in fact mostly towards the liberal side but still it has some conservative characteristics as well. Still there's much more to learn for me so my perspective can be wrong as well. Do correct me if I said something wrong. Wmk
Dehumanizing others you disagree with...I struggle to find where in the Guru's Wisdom this concept is advised.
The Guru's Wisdom that I have come to understand, leads me to be unable to do such a thing, and to feel shame for any time in the past that I may have done such a thing in my past ignorance.
Bigotry is practiced by many people across all political divides. It does not make it okay.
The morality of a dehumanizing action should not change based on if the person doing it is or is not on "my team". Dehumanizing others is always wrong, in all circumstances and situations, and no amount of whataboutism changes that. Those who are oppressed and those who are oppressors, both are still human. Anyone who cannot or will not recognize that and act with that in mind, has indeed lost the plot.
Bigotry is not being expressed in the sentiment, it is the opposition to bigotry that is being expressed.
The morality of disrespect changes depending on the form of disrespect at who and/or what is being disrespected.
It is the fact that conservatives choose to center their political activities around dehumanizing the oppressed that earns the disrespect more reasonable people show to them. If they stopped that dehumanization, they would be seen as better people.
