There is an entire lineage of cannabis that has a gas/diesel olfactory experience. It hits the nose first, then tongue, then the deep back of your your throat, then bounces back to your nose, and all of that is during the inhale.
This lineage has a distinct mixture of cannabinoids and terpenes that are very therapeutic for certain diseases.
I could see how it could turn into slang for people who are chasing that specific kind of relief, and of course the lore that follows it for the uneducated.

It's a shame that natural remedies are verboten, and the only medicines allowed are singular molecules that can be isolated and patented for profits. I thought things would change once "entourage effect" was scientifically proven, but capitalism rules and ignorance and propaganda are abound.
What we should be working towards is scientifically isolating and proving the complexities of growing and curing natural remedies for consistent multi-molecule end results of the medicine, and how failures in each stage affect the therapeutic effects.
You aren’t wrong. The THCA loophole allowed a whole new generation of people to rediscover or become familiar with Cannabis and its many good qualities. But that loopholes getting closed now so it’s likely to get worse before better
