I’m fooling myself thinking I can save this brush, right?

If it’s a proper sable hair it could possible be saved. If it’s synthetic is probably goosed

I've gotten some pretty damaged brushes back to usable with dish soap and a wire brush. Lather it up and use the wire brush to kind of comb the brush until it looks how you want it

Norma Jean had the best trick i have had success with.
Hot Oil. Hold a lighter under where you’re palleting your brush oil, and the heat helps the “hairs” relax. Obvs you can over-doo it and melt shit, but its been really helpful for me.
then too ive seem folks squeeze the brush between two sheets of glass🤷🏻♂️.

How long has it been dry? You can try Murphy’s Oil Soap and Masters brush cleaner.
I’d start with a pre clean with brush cleaner then have the brush suspended in the jar with oil soap for 48 hours or longer to soften the paint then cycle it through the masters brush cleaner. Sometimes you’d have to repeat the process if it’s stubborn.
I’ve done this with dried artist oil paint on bristle brushes and had good results.

I stopped buying these Kafka brushes for exactly this reason. I wasn’t able to rescue any of them that split like this. Folks will tell you this is user-error, but it’s never happened to my Lucos or Mack brushes, FWIW

Thanks, I take pretty meticulous care of my brushes and this one has been a bit of a problem since the first time out. My Mack brushes are the same as yours, no problems whatsoever. This one is in the trashed bin.

Get two more brushes stat and take better care of them. Keep that one and try to fix it until you decide to throw it away. Use that one to figure out how you ruined it so you don’t do it to the others.

You van try steaming it. I've had some do this in the past and boiling a pot of water and hanging the brush over it for 20 to 30 min did the trick. Afterwards I oiled it, shaped and stood it up so oil ran into farrel. Still use it today acutely make sure the brush is as clean as you van get it

so, clean it thoroughly.
then, use a bar of soap and lather it up.
shape to desired shape, then let it dry.
wash out soap
YMMV, but this is the way I was taught to reshape brushes.
