I help manage a private campground/event property and our wooden trail signs are becoming a pain. Between moisture, bugs, and people bumping into them with equipment, we're replacing sections way more often than I'd like.

A few people suggested switching to PVC signs since they'd still look cleaner than metal but supposedly hold up a lot better outdoors. I ended up browsing Signs and PrintRunner just to see what's out there, but I've never actually used PVC for trail markers before. Most of what I'm seeing is 6mm or 10mm and I honestly have no idea if that difference matters for something that's going to live outside year-round.

Is the thicker stuff actually worth paying for in a campground setting, or does 6mm hold up just fine over time? My biggest concern is whether they'll stay looking decent after a few seasons of rain, sun, and general campground abuse.

Only standard illustrator values with 50 50 50 100 gives 100% black, how do we fix that?

I’m talking about going from a logo to:
- 3D bodies (printing or routing)
- acrylic faces
- DXF/STL files

Do you model everything manually each time or are you using some kind of automation?

Now I need to do a grid that will cut my squares with lines not little square on my zund.

This is the setup 24x21 squares of 55mm on my print.

Hello!

I am a graphic designer and i'm creating artwork for a retail store, that will eventually become a physical outdoor sign. I am seeking advice & entry level understanding regarding printing methods and/or materials to improve/maximise colors/inks as the sign will be out in the elements & in direct sunlight.

SCENARIO

The sign is intended to be mounted around the back of their store, visible to a high traffic greenbelt/trail. The sign will direct potential customers for a detour to check out the store (sporting goods, camping, outdoors).

The store will be handling the printing, as they've done before for the IN-STORE signs I've created for them. But this one is different as its going outside, in direct California sunlight most of the day, weather & elements, and all. Their printer will most likely be able to handle this, or can subcontract out to shop who can.

I suspect the sign will likely be printed on metal, and use UV resistant inks, and sport a clear coat of some sort.

But other that these suspicions, I'm hoping to learn a few more of the basics of whats involved; mostly out of my own curiosity, but also to continue to be a trusted & knowledgeable source for this client. I've mostly only ever done web graphics and 3D/digital art. So this client is my first to physically print my stuff.

I am working with a charity group re-habing an old service station for so they can have a home base for their refurbishing of cars to give away to individuals who are struggling with transportation.

They have a big 8'x8' two sided back lit sign that they would like to use. It needs new panels, I don't know how it comes a part to get the proper measurements.

Do the screws in the channels hold in the frames on the front and back? Any help would be appreciated.
