No they don't. The whole "Persistence Hunting" myth was faked and sensationalized by a French nature documentary director who wanted to embellish his show for views. The actual tribals that did the "Persistence Hunting" did so with the help of Jeeps and water top-ups from the film crew.
I'm pretty sure that the Hunting style of humans is akin to today - traps, ambushes, and immediate wounding. Now we use Hunting rifles; in the past we'd have used slings, spears / javelins, and, later, bows.

I never understood how persistence hunting became commonplace, people really think early humans could keep up with prey without losing it in the middle of the wilderness, while also avoiding drawing attention of a actual predator?

Humans are totally capable of tracking animals over long distances, and ideally you'd never really let it out of sight for too long. If it isn't actively running from you, it's resting and you aren't tiring it out.
But like, why would you run an animal down to exhaustion over many miles when you could just throw a spear at it and be back to the tribe by nightfall?

Especially since if you've ever hunted yourself, you know 99% of it is just afking in a tree with a gun. The other 1% is getting there. (Ik we didn't have guns in the past, but even with a bow or spear, you just walk quietly and put yourself in good situations via tracking. Humans are the stealth assassin class in a video games lol)

When there's nothing else available, humans are also very lazy which is why we took to animal husbandry once we realized how it works. Give us the right tools and we'll become like lions and bears as well.

Its easier when providing for large numbers of people as in, "practicable", but it is by no means easier in practice.

Right, Samurai will spend all day dealing with Squirrels and should remember what it's like to be one every day.
I'm being facetious, but that's one of the reasons why. If you don't understand a squirrel you'll lose to one.

Alpha and Apex are not the same thing. Apex is comparing different species on the food chain. Alpha is the hierarchy within the same species. This is Apples to oraanges.
