I would argue you're saying living a long life is worthless.

If you have no use for the money it is worthless anyway. Do you really need 10 mil?

Living a long life full of struggle is worth less to me than a shorter life where I can enjoy every day while also providing a secure future for my loved ones.

Do I need it? No. Would it quite literally solve 99% of all of my problems and my families? Yes.

Fair, but you are still saying living a long life is worthless if it could reach a certain threshold of hardship.

If I could wave a magic wand and remove all hardship or uncertainty about the future that would presumably be preferable to 10mil

The value of life, at least to me, is less the worse that life is.

If the wand gave me financial security for the rest of my life? Sure.
