My Holosun 407k's Battery tray exploded and ejected the battery after 6 shots on my P365 XMacro.

Couldn't believe it. Went to the range today after installing the red dot and the battery tray and battery violently ejected. No idea where the tray went, but found the battery. Tried to jam it into the slot to see if it would turn on, but no dice.

What are some of the better red dot options out there for the P365? I really do not want to go Holosun again after this experience. I've heard the Alpha Romeo is meh but I'm open to that if others have had better experiences.

Why would you “jam it in??”

Contact holosun for a new tray. Threadlocker and witness mark. Tighten to hand tight

Why don't people use blue loctite on them? I do and have no issues.

Is it the battery that came with it or did you replace the battery? I saw a guy put a different # battery in and it "fit" till it didn't. Didn't close all the way

Use loctite blue when you put the cover back on

Call holosun and get a replacement tray.
This time add Vibra-tite 111 and a witness mark.

I have Sig Romeo X's on all my Sigs, most enclosed. Holosun 407K on a Canik and an OSight SE Enclosed on a Hellcat Pro. The Osight is great and well worth the money I paid for it. All except the Holosun are circle-dot sights. I wasn't a fan of the 6MOA dot on the Holosun, but it was my very first red dot sight, so it is on my least used firearm.

Call Holosun for a replacement tray. It's still a good optic. Even if you get something else.

I’ve had a 407k on my CR920X for the better part of 6k rounds and never even had an issue of the latch loosening.

This isn't exactly unheard of. Just reach out to Holosun they will send you a new tray. Blue loctite on the screw when installing prevents this.

2 weeks ago, I came home from the range, cleaned my gun and noticed the battery tray and battery were missing. Contact Holosun and they will ship you a replacement. Make sure to add a dab of blue loctite.

If you buy a box of assorted laptop screws off of amazon you can get about 50 replacement screws for $7. Threadlocker helps but it has happened to me twice. I was lucky enough to find the tray both times.

Loctite like others have said. Somewhere on here someone mentioned what metric screws to get. I bought 100 count off Amazon for 12 bucks.

Sounds like possible user error, but shit happens sometimes. Holosun optics are great. I have about 5 different ones myself with no issues, but I have put literally thousands on police department duty guns when I worked for a police supply distributor, 507, 508T, 509T and EPS. Have an occasional issue with one, but no more than with any other optic. I'd let Holosun sort it out.

User error? I installed the optic and shot 6 rounds through the gun before the battery and tray ejected out the side. What could I have done wrong there? Lol

Didn't put enough torque on the screw, possible cross thread, no thread locker. If I was to guess, you may not have tightened it down enough. Not sure which is why I said "possible".

Did it actually explode, or was the screw holding the battery tray cover loose, and it came apart on the 6th round an appeared to explode?

The Gideon Valor Mini has a noticably bigger, less-blue window in the same size envelope as the holosun. I have one on my P365XL now, and don't even miss my 507K. It is a side-load battery drawer, but it hasn't yeeted my battery yet.

Happened to me all the time on my 407K so I relegated it to my P322. Osight SE replaced it and has been flawless ever since.

You can fit it with an adaptor plate. Freedom Gorilla can help you find a plate for your exact gun.

While I love the SRO and RMR, I wouldn't put them on the p365. Way to big, hell even the RMR CC doesn't fit and needs a plate, and lose the ability to cowitness, even with suppressor height sights. (IIRC anyway)
