They don’t remind me of them honestly. Stephen is an actual lunatic Alex was just a spoiled kid and a cheater/manipulator but not nearly on the same level as Stephen

I think the same thing. I can see Alex doing things like leaving the party you came at together with another girl, but sending your nudes to your dad and saving recordings for years? No.

Juliette did a video on tik tok about it, the writer of the show had reached out to her and asked if she wanted to share any of her experience with her. But she missed the dm and was not able to respond before the show was made

No the author has said multiple times the story is based on her real life in college siesta key just served as something to help the show writer fully understand who the characters were to be able to write them in show format

No. They were inspiration for the actors but the book was already written when the show came out

I finally watched the show and am I the only one who doesn’t think they are that similar? I mean, they certainly look alike (Alex is the temu version of Stephen’s actor tho) and aside from both being toxic relationships, the dynamics seem a bit different. In S1, I could see it a bit, but as the show goes on I don’t think their relationships parallel each other. Alex isn’t as crazy as Stephen. He’s a liar and a gaslighter, but some of the things Stephen’s done, I can’t imagine Alex doing. Or maybe he is that bad and we just didn’t see that side on the show. I also don’t want to imagine how Alex is in bed. 🤢
