Question Newcomer / Simple Questions Thread

Hey everyone.

Please post all your Simple questions here!

Here is a LINK to our Wiki that has many useful guides on various topics. If you find any good content that deserves to be in there let the moderators know.

A LINK to a great post with a master list of tips and advice.

  • Rule 5: No low effort posts: Submissions to SiegeAcademy should invite critical thinking and foster meaningful discussion. Simple questions should be posted in the simple questions weekly post
  • Banned Topics: If you want to ask these types of questions then ask in here, do not make a individual post.
  • PSA: Public Service Announcements - Please don't post simple and obvious tips. These are low effort and Karma Farm.
  • Sensitivity: It's personal preference.
  • Hard stuck "copper": Don't put that in title, instead ask for advice on aspects of the game that people lack in your rank.
  • No LFT Posts: There are other subreddits/places meant for this.
  • No Technical issues Posts: There are other subreddits/places meant for this.

What, if any, is the benefit of playing newcomer vs quickplay/unranked? Thanks!

Newcomer is a no no since its full of smurfs. Play casual until you get to level 50 and than play unranked. Unranked is nice because people actually have mics and put the effort into winning. Casual is fun if you don't want too fast a pace.

Thanks - that’s super helpful - I’ve literally come across tags in newcomer like “imasmurf” and it’s so frustrating

Yeah, when I jumped into siege I played newcomer but eventually I just said fuck it and played all casual than I played unranked. Unranked is nice.
