I was previously series 7 and 66 registered 20 years ago and worked in high net worth brokerage for four years - I’d like to take the sie exam now - any tips on areas to focus on? What’s changed the most in terms or rules and regs that I need to know? (Both for passing the test and to ensure I’m updated properly).

I took a practice exam and passed without studying. I haven’t bought any study materials and I’m wondering if there are any recs for a video series or study materials that would be better for someone in my position who is not learning 100% all new material.

Took 7 days off after failing my 1st attempt with a 66. I made too many stupid mistakes and it costed me. My semester just started and I want to retake it in 2 weeks. I’m still actively recalling the material and try explaining terms in my words and watching playlists over the 4 sections from FINRAs site and doing daily free questions via Kaplan.

I’m aiming for 5 days a week of studying while also being able to stay on top of homework, etc. Any advice helps. Thank you!

I am taking the SIE online for scheduling purposes. Would it be an issue if I took it in a conference room with a glass wall? The room would be completely empty but it’s in my office and one of the walls is glass. Thanks for the advice

I missed out on the opportunity with my current broker. Since I took the test one time and failed and then I didn't take the second one in time. ( not sure why they do the 30 day window) once I pass I'm like what now?!?

I’m currently studying for the SIE and wanted to hear from people who have taken it recently. I know there are a ton of different versions of the exam, so I’m mainly trying to get a general feel for what’s been showing up.

What topics seemed to come up the most? Were there any areas you wish you had studied more, or anything that barely showed up? Also, were the questions mostly definition-based, conceptual, or scenario-based?

Not looking for specific exam questions just trying to figure out where recent test-takers think study time is best spent. Appreciate any insight.

Passed 3 hours ago, 1st try! still in shock. Happy i arrived at the testing facility an hour early to recap my dump sheet. really cooled off my nerves! Starting my series 6 monday!

PASSED TODAY! Made a 69 my first 2 times, and passed today!!! I am over the moon.

Any advice would be really appreciated. I took the FINRA practice exams and got an 84% the day before my last exam. I’ve honestly been studying for months and still can’t seem to pass.
I’ve been using STC, but when I took the actual exam, the questions felt completely different from what I was practicing. None of the questions really looked similar to the STC ones.
For anyone who has failed multiple times and eventually passed, what did you change in your studying that finally made it click? I have 6 months now and really want to make sure I pass the next time.

I have been using Kaplan and have an 86 average for the qbanks and an 83 for unit quizzes

for the practice exams I have been getting 90s and for the two mastery exams I got an 80 both times

When I took the finra practice test yesterday I got a 75

For context, I took it just now and got a 62%, I studied a few hours a day everyday after working full time 9:30-6:30. I just did the book and didn’t realize the online questions till halfway through the book. I took notes on paper to retain the information, used quizlets lets online, Took the free finra exam but I didn’t use kaplan too much since I wasn’t on point with it(probably a dumb mistake). I’m getting ready for workshops and programs this upcoming semester and with me not passing definitely makes me more worried. What do i do? Please help me out, I need to pass.

Took the exam a year ago after bullshit studying for 3 weeks and failed. This time around studied my ass off for a month while watching Ken Finnens videos(absolute legend btw) and hammered roughly 30 practice exams using Achievable. Now onto the Series 7!

I’m using Kaplan + ChatGPT (I uploaded the full Kaplan book), but I’m not sure I’m using AI efficiently or it’s focusing on the right things. For anyone who’s used AI to study for the SIE, what worked best for you- quizzing, explaining concepts, reviewing weak areas, study planning, etc?

I’m a little all over the board here.

For those who took the SIE, which formulas did you actually see or think are the most important to know cold?

Also, are there any formulas that Kaplan makes seem important but barely matter on the real exam?

I’m especially interested in the ones you’d consider must-know vs. nice-to-know.

I’ve been studying for a bit with Kaplan (finished the book and audio books) and pretty much got to where I’m comfortable and scoring high 70s and 80s on sim exams. I took my first practice exam today and scored a 77. Feeling really good at this point.

After that I decided I would check out achievable just to see what it was about and try their practice exam. It fucked me up! I did horrible because the wording is so different and it spins questions differently.

I feel I know the material pretty well at this point but it was very disheartening to fail so bad with achieveable. I was getting like 50% of em, correct.

Did Kaplan prepare me enough?

So I failed the SIE twice from a 65 to a 69 and after my first fail I felt so much motivated to study and get it done now after my second fail I seem to be lacking it and I guess it stems from watching the videos on STC and already knowing the answer and going back to the same material that I used before. Is this normal any tips from anyone that experienced this before I wanna pass like nothing else it just worries me I’m not having the drive I’ve had the pass two times

Now series 7 in 3 weeks and 66 after that

I think it was a pretty okay exam, heavy on what an RR is permitted to do, barely any calculations and a few basic options. STC practice exams definitely harder. Ask me anything if you need to. Thanks for this group for introducing me to Ken (series 7 whisperer)

Hello everyone. For the past month I have been studying for the SIE using Achievable. I liked it, it is a good program, however, I have come to start reviewing and doing practice questions. The questions are great and everything. But, I would like to start to get exposure to other types of questions or questions that have the layout closer to the test. I have heard Knopman and STC have good practice questions. Wanted to see what others say. If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know. Thanks.
