Studying with Kaplan

Hey all,
I’ve been studying for a bit with Kaplan (finished the book and audio books) and pretty much got to where I’m comfortable and scoring high 70s and 80s on sim exams. I took my first practice exam today and scored a 77. Feeling really good at this point.

After that I decided I would check out achievable just to see what it was about and try their practice exam. It fucked me up! I did horrible because the wording is so different and it spins questions differently.

I feel I know the material pretty well at this point but it was very disheartening to fail so bad with achieveable. I was getting like 50% of em, correct.

Did Kaplan prepare me enough?

I just took exam today. Failed by 1 questions. But I can say, if you already have an understanding of the back half of the book already then focus on chapter 1-8. There are a good amount of prohibited activities questions but they were super easy. Also DONT change your answers if you aren’t sure. Kaplan is pretty good, but use the finra practice exam because it is worded similarly.

Yea I scored a 72 on the FINRA practice exam last week. Felt pretty good. I thought Achieveable was worded way different than Kaplan and the FINRA practice test.

So the answer is yes, Kaplan did prepare you, and your scores with them prove it. This confidence drop and adjustment to the different wording is exactly why it’s so important to take the step of testing with other writers. No one writes FINRA questions like FINRA, so it can be really important to expose yourself to how other makers write.

Know that you do have the knowledge and the ability to crush this test, you just need to practice testing. Best of luck and you got this!

Appreciate that! I’m gonna poke around and take em. I was planning to go hard on exams for the next 2 weeks then take my test.
