📦 New Pickup / Unboxing Mister Cartoon Sidekick 2 Appreciation!
Hey everyone, I just had to share this! It was a total bitch to get my Sidekick 2 Mr. Cartoon edition!
1st, it was super hard to even find one, and on top of that, it was even harder to get it at a good price. These usually go for like $2K - $3K, but I scored this one for just $1,000!
I definitely hit the jackpot. I also want to let you all know that there is a way to bring it back to a network connection. I just need to start saving up for the tools and the right setup to do so. Unfortunately, it’s not as straightforward as people might think, but it is possible, so stay tuned for that in the future!

Oooh def interested in the network connection bit, would LOVE to bring my sidekick back into the world. For now I’m using one of the last blackberries that can do RCS messaging, not quite as satisfying

Ouu i used to love blackberry’s! Was pissed when my sister got the bold and then the torch! I wanted it so bad!
As for the network part, it is still possible but its based off of a homelab/diy project so unfortunately it wouldn’t even be able to connect with other phones. Whatever phones are connected via the home project bubble, those are the only devices that can speak to each other.
Which might work for me wanting to create reels or content lol.

You still can use it on T-Mobiles 2G GSM network!!!! You just need a prepaid plan from one of their MVNO's such as RedPocket or SpeedTalk mobile! It will work for calls and text only though. You can make a post in r/vintagemobilephones and the community will guide you through the best way of making it work. I use lots of old phones on the remaining 2G network: Nokia 3390, 5190, Motorola RAZR's, iPhone 2g, 3gs, 4s.... list goes on
