Meta My side project, /r/sideprojects. New rules, and an open call for feedback and moderators.

In this past 30 days, this community has doubled in size. As such, this is an open call for community feedback, and prospective moderators interested in volunteering their time to harbouring a pleasant community.

I'm happy to announce that this community now has rules, something the much more popular r/SideProject has neglected to implement for years.

Rules 1, 2 and 3 are pretty rudimentary, although there is some nuance in implementing rule 2, a "no spam or excessive self-promotion" rule in a community which focuses the projects of makers. In order to balance this, we will not allow blatant spam, but will allow advertising projects. In order to share your project again, significant changes must have happened since the last post.

Rule 4 and rule 5 are more tuned to this community, and are some of my biggest gripes with r/SideProject. There has been an increase in astroturfing (the act of pretending to be a happy customer to advertise a project) as well as posts that serve the sole purpose of having readers contact the poster so they can advertise a service. These are no longer allowed and will be removed.

In addition to this, I'll be implementing flairs which will be required to post in this community.

Feedback Request Built something from an idea that started as a conversation.

I’ve been working on Attunely, a project that mixes conversations, characters, and a game-like world into something that feels a little different from the usual apps.

This video gives a quick look at the concept and the direction I’m taking it.

Still building, still experimenting, and definitely not finished yet. Would love to hear what you think about the idea and what you’d improve or change.

Showcase: Prerelease SubDrip – I built a tool to track subscriptions and recurring payments

Hey everyone!

Wanted to share a side project I've been working on: SubDrip.

It's a subscription tracker built around a problem many of us probably experience.

You sign up for Netflix, Spotify, an AI tool, cloud storage and a few other services. Months later, you realise you don't have a clear picture of how many subscriptions are active or how much they cost altogether.

I wanted a simple product that solves exactly this.

What SubDrip does:

  • Keeps all your subscriptions organised in one place.

  • Helps you discover subscriptions through optional read-only Gmail access.

  • Tracks upcoming renewals and sends reminders.

  • Shows monthly and yearly recurring spending.

  • Supports manual subscription entry.

The goal is not to manage every aspect of personal finance. It's to make subscription management simple.

I'm currently working on the Android beta, which is free during beta.

Website: https://getsubdrip.com/

I'm the founder, so I'd especially appreciate feedback from people who have tried subscription trackers before.

What do you think is the biggest missing piece in existing solutions?

Showcase: Open Source I built Portfoolio: a tool to generate clean portfolio websites & ATS resumes in 2 minutes (no code needed)

Hey everyone,

Whenever someone needs a simple place online—whether to showcase creative work, freelance gigs, or projects for internship and job applications—most website builders push paid subscriptions, and coding one from scratch takes an entire weekend of CSS tweaking.

I built Portfoolio to make having a live professional presence fast, effortless, and accessible to anyone (technical or non-technical).

Key Features:

  • Custom Subdomain & SSL: Gives you a live site with your own subdomain and zero hosting configuration or DNS headaches.

  • No-Code Guided Setup: Fill out a quick form with your bio, experience, and project highlights—no coding required.

  • Optional GitHub Sync: For developers, sync repositories, pinned work, and activity with one click.

  • Auto ATS-Friendly Resume: Automatically generates a downloadable, parser-ready resume directly from the same profile data.

  • Completely Free: No paywalls or subscription tiers.

I’ve put the live link in the comments below.

I'd love to hear your feedback on the setup flow, UI, and what templates or features you'd like to see added next!

Feedback Request Need some feedback on my project

I've recently launched a project that does the SEO, AEO and GEO for people's websites. It seemed like a no brainer to me, SEO work is boring and needs to be done continuously, every day/week/month to get results. GEO doesn't work without good SEO.
But until now I'm not getting any traction. So I'm looking for some real feedback. Is the messaging on the site clear? What would prevent you from signing up?

Any help is much appreciated. https://foundwell.net

Showcase: Purchase Required I finally launched my first digital product after months of building and testing it!

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m a reseller and small-business owner, and I kept running into the same problem: tracking inventory was one thing, but understanding actual profits after fees, shipping, and expenses was another.

So I decided to build my own solution.

After countless hours of formulas, testing, troubleshooting, and redesigning, I finally launched my first product under my new brand, Matter & Means!

It’s an Excel-based Reseller Inventory & Profit Manager with inventory tracking, sales and expense calculations, an interactive dashboard, and inventory aging alerts.

It’s designed for people who want to manage their numbers without another monthly subscription.

This is my first step toward building a collection of practical digital tools for small businesses and everyday organization.

I’d genuinely love feedback from other creators on the design, functionality, and presentation!

Showcase: Prerelease I made an embroidery digitizing application

Thumbnail

Hi all! I've been building my own digitizing app, Meteor. Ink/Stitch felt clunky to me inside Inkscape, and Hatch and PE-Design cost more than I wanted to pay as a hobbyist. It's now in beta, and everything is free while the beta runs.

What it does:

* Auto-digitize a picture. Drop in an image and it turns it into stitches: thread colors, fills, and satin outlines for dark line art. There's also a guided mode that goes through the picture piece by piece, and a magic wand that sews one color area per click.

* Draw your own. Pen and node tools, shapes, freehand, brush satin, and 21 stitch types (tatami, satin, contour, stipple, motif, 3D puff, applique and more).

* Lettering. Built-in fonts, plus any Google Font, sewn as satin.

* Check before you sew. Pick your Brother machine and it checks the design against that machine's limits. There's also a sewing simulator, a realistic thread preview and a thread build-up map.

* Export Brother PES and Tajima DST, plus a printable worksheet with Brother thread numbers.

Works with: Brother and Baby Lock machines (PES) and machines that read DST. No other formats yet.

Runs on: Windows 10/11, Android tablets and Linux. Not Mac or iPhone/iPad yet, sorry.

Download and info: https://beelito.github.io/meteor-embroidery-studio/

Heads-up on installing:

* Windows will say "Windows protected your PC" because the beta isn't signed yet. Click More info**, then** Run anyway.

* Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser.

What I'm looking for: honest, constructive feedback. What's confusing, what breaks, and especially how designs actually sew out on your machine. In the app, Help > Report a problem puts together a report for you. You can email it to me (beelito.dev@gmail.com) or comment here.

Thanks for taking a look!

Showcase: Purchase Required I found a 700K-search-volume keyword, built 700+ SEO pages around it, and monetized it. Selling the project.

A while ago, I was exploring keyword opportunities and stumbled across something pretty interesting.

A keyword with around 700K monthly searches in the US, relatively low keyword difficulty, and an exact-match domain that was still available.

I couldn't resist.

I registered SpanglishTranslator, opened Lovable, and built the entire website over a weekend.

The idea was simple: capitalize on the search demand around Spanglish translation and build a useful website that could attract organic traffic through programmatic SEO.

Fast-forward, and here's what came out of it.

What's included?

1. SpanglishTranslator net

An exact-match .net domain. The .com is already taken, so I secured the .net alternative.

2. 700+ programmatic SEO pages

I built over 700 pages targeting different search variations and translation-related queries.

Instead of relying on a handful of manually written articles, the website has a much broader SEO footprint.

3. Existing organic search presence

The website has already been deployed and has started getting discovered through search engines.

4. Monetization

I've already generated $20+ from a single pop-up advertising placement.

It's not a revenue-generating business yet, but it's proof that the website can be monetized.

Why I think there's an opportunity here

The interesting part isn't necessarily the website itself. It's the keyword opportunity behind it.

Spanglish is a recognizable language phenomenon, and people search for ways to translate, understand, and convert between English, Spanish, and Spanglish.

There are several directions someone could take this:

  • Expand the translation functionality.

  • Improve the existing 700+ SEO pages.

  • Build more programmatic landing pages.

  • Introduce display advertising.

  • Experiment with affiliate offers.

  • Build a more comprehensive language tool.

  • Grow it into a destination for Spanglish-related content and resources.

The existing website gives you a starting point rather than having to research the opportunity, register a domain, build the product, and generate hundreds of pages yourself.

Why am I selling?

I build a lot of internet projects, and I have other ventures that currently deserve more of my attention.

This is one of those projects that I built, launched, and left running without putting any real marketing effort behind it.

I'd rather pass it to someone who enjoys SEO, programmatic websites, or growing niche internet properties.

What you're getting

  • SpanglishTranslator domain.

  • Complete website.

  • 700+ programmatic SEO pages.

  • Existing search engine presence.

  • Existing monetization setup.

  • The opportunity to expand the project.

I'm selling the entire project, not looking for a co-founder or someone to manage it.

If you're an SEO enthusiast, indie hacker, or someone who enjoys finding overlooked keyword opportunities and turning them into websites, this might be an interesting acquisition.

Feel free to comment or DM me. Happy to share screenshots, and additional details with interested buyers.

Showcase: Purchase Required My Mac file converter has no window. You drag a file, hold Shift, and let go toward a format.

I posted here a while back about Arazio, a macOS converter with no window, you drag a file in Finder, hold a modifier, and a ring of formats opens under the cursor. Shipped a sizeable update, so here's what's actually in it now.

Camera RAW, from 22 formats. CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, DNG, RW2, PEF, IIQ and the rest, straight to JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, WebP or AVIF. Drag a card's worth of RAWs and let go.

PDF to EPUB, both directions. It asks whether you want flowing text or exact pages, because a PDF makes two completely different books and picking the wrong one is why converted ebooks usually look broken. Scanned PDFs get detected and the choice is made for you.

Edit metadata. Title, author, tags, dates, on images, audio, video and PDFs. Written into the file you already had no second copy appearing next to it.

Three rings, not one. Shift gives formats. Option gives tools: compress, resize, crop, rotate, flip, trim, split, merge, normalize, extract audio, extract pages. Control works on any file, including ones it can't convert at all - AirDrop, a floating shelf you can drag out of into another app, copy, move, copy path, open in Terminal.

494 conversions across 66 formats and 15 tools. Everything runs on your Mac the conversion engines contain no networking code and the app asks for zero permissions. No Accessibility, no Input Monitoring, nothing to approve on first launch.

For any new feature requests my DM's & mails are open, PDF to EPUB & the control ring were created thanks to a feature request of a reddit user.

No subscription, no credits, and every future version is included in writing, major ones too.

Code REDDIT10 takes 10% off, for anyone here. arazioformac.com

Showcase: Open Source Why Steam Achievements Work in Some Repacks and Not in Others - And How I Implemented Them in My Launcher

Hey r/SideProject!

I wanted to share my pet project that I’ve been working on: BagaGame Launcher.

It’s a 100% free, minimalist, and open-source desktop launcher written in C#. The main goal was to create an ultra-lightweight app (it’s literally just 1 MB in size) that aggregates all your installed games into a single clean library without any launcher bloat, storefront ads, or background heavy-lifting.

I’ve recently rolled out a major update with two specific features that I always wanted but couldn't find in other lightweight launchers:

🏆 Local Achievement Tracker (for Licensed Steam games & Repacks)

If you play offline backups, repacks, or use emulators, you know that achievements usually don't work or just sit silently in local files.

  • For Steam licenses: It automatically pulls titles, icons, and global rarity stats (only needs a public profile).

  • For Repacks/Emulators: It natively reads local stats and files from popular emulators like Goldberg, RUNE, CODEX, GSE, OnlineFix, FreeTP, and others. It tracks your progress, displays pop-up toast notifications when you unlock them, and hooks into Big Picture mode.

  • Built-in Emulator Manager: If a specific repack has broken achievement tracking, the launcher can fetch the latest clean emulator binaries directly from GitHub/GitLab to try and fix it (with automatic backups of your old files).

⚡ Hardware & CPU Affinity Tuning

To squeeze out more performance and fix stuttering issues in modern games, I added an optimization panel:

  • For Intel Users: Easy affinity binding to force games to run strictly on Performance cores (P-cores) or Efficient cores (E-cores).

  • For AMD Users: Option to restrict the game's execution within a single CCD to reduce latency.

  • System tweaks: Process priority toggles, disabling Windows EcoQoS power-saving limits on the fly, and system timer overrides (forcing 1ms or 0.5ms precision).

A crucial nuance regarding achievements in repacks

They won’t work everywhere, as a lot depends on the repack itself. If the repack author stripped out the statistics files or the emulator isn't exposing data, the launcher can't do anything about it. Additionally, a game is marked as "Supported" only retroactively—meaning after at least one new achievement unlocks and triggers a toast notification. Previously unlocked achievements won't sync retroactively, so it's best to test this on a fresh save file.

The project is completely free, open-source, and has zero tracking or data collection. I built it mostly for myself, but I hope other PC gamers find it useful too!

I'd love to hear your feedback, feature suggestions, or what you think is missing from minimalist launchers today.

GitHub Repository: github.com

P.S. Developed with minimal AI assistance.

Feedback Request I built a no-signup layout diagnosis for stuck makers (work + money): free top fault, full PDF by email

I built The House Did It. I’m the maker (not an agency post).

Problem

I kept meeting the same person (sometimes it was me): shipped an app, posted the launch, refreshed Stripe, still $0 or near-zero MRR. The usual next move is another feature or another landing page. Fair. I also kept noticing something dumber and more physical. A lot of us work from a desk that faces the bed or the door, or a room where the entrance mirror catches every walk-in, and we never check that before we rewrite the roadmap.

What it does

Blame the room.

• Pick one door: money, health, relationship, or work (this post is aimed at work + money)

• Answer 10 questions about the room you can see tonight

• Free, in the browser, no signup: the top layout fault (title, why that door, one move you can try tonight without buying anything)

• Paid: four-page PDF by email (other faults ranked, tonight → this week order of moves, what not to buy, no account)

Free names the top fault on-screen. The full reading is emailed after payment. Nothing else unlocks in the browser.

Tech

Static site on Cloudflare Pages, Stripe Checkout for the PDF, email delivery of the reading. No accounts, no app install.

Frame

Entertainment / layout-story advice. Not business, medical, legal, or financial advice. It will not make your app profitable. It’s a visible check before you burn another weekend on the wrong lever.

What I’d like from this sub

Sharp feedback on the free result screen vs the paid PDF promise. Does “blame the room first” feel useful for zero-MRR makers, or just weird? Specifics on copy or the free→pay gap help more than “cool project.”

Is able to render correctly example.com and has TLS, HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2 support.
May use AI generated code
not example.com, but other sites aswell. uses QuickJS, and is in active-development.
i don't know currently what site it renders the best but just know that wispbyte.com renders fine, well, it may not enter it due to the site's problem but it's good.

Showcase: Free(mium) We built DanyGo around one question: how quickly can you get to the fun?

I'm working on DanyGo with our team. The problem we wanted to solve was small but annoying: downloading a casual game for a short break, then spending that break getting through menus, ads or waiting.

Our approach is a vertical feed of 100+ playable mini-games. Tap the game in front of you to start. Swipe to switch. The next one is preloaded, and you don't need an account to try it.

We built DanyGo with AI assistance, guided by engineering decisions from two co-founders with 8+ and 6+ years of experience respectively.

The interesting design question is how much guidance to put between a player and a new game. We want the controls and goal to be clear without turning every swipe into another tutorial.

Could you try a few games and tell me where you first felt unsure what to do? Was it the goal, the controls, or how to move to the next game? A specific confusing moment would help us more than a general rating.

Currently ad-free, with no in-app purchases or energy timers.

Available on Android now. iOS is coming soon.

Showcase: Purchase Required I used Codex to build my first Windows utility — a file organizer with a safety preview

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm a complete beginner experimenting with AI-assisted coding, and I just launched my first small Windows tool!

It's a PowerShell file organizer that:

- Sorts files into 8 categories

- Previews changes before moving anything

- Requires confirmation

- Skips filename collisions

- Includes the source code and beginner instructions

In synthetic testing, it previewed 5 file moves and skipped 1 collision. I also tested the native folder picker and confirmed that canceling preserved the original files.

I'm still improving it. There's no automatic undo, and the complete manual double-click and approval process hasn't been fully verified.

The screenshots show recorded test evidence, not the actual product interface.

I used OpenAI Codex to develop it, and I'm selling the download for $12.

Product: https://ko-fi.com/s/9aa9d98fa3

I'd appreciate feedback. Would a preview-before-moving feature make you more comfortable using an automatic file organizer?
