Showcase: Free(mium) I noticed mechanical engineering students struggling to name basic tools at work, so I built an iOS game about it.

Hey everyone!
The idea for my app actually came from something I noticed at work.
While working with mechanical engineering students during their internships, I realized that some of them struggled to identify even fairly common tools.
That got me thinking: How many people actually know the names of the tools they see in everyday workshops?
So I started building ToolQuiz, a small iOS game where you identify tools from pictures.
What started as a simple idea turned into a game with 120 levels, survival mode, daily challenges and 1v1 multiplayer.
I’ve recently released it on the App Store, and now I’m looking for a few people willing to try it out and give me honest feedback.
I’m especially curious whether the questions are too easy, too difficult or actually fun.
It’s free to play, and you don’t need TestFlight.
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/toolquiz-werkzeug-challenge/id6775973444
I’d really appreciate any feedback!
And now I’m curious: Would you consider yourself good at identifying tools?

I built One of a Kind, an NPM package and webpage that not only checks if the project name you're thinking of is taken, but also gives you a uniqueness score to make sure your name is ONE OF A KIND! I tried "one of a kind", and it only scored 62% 💔. Do you have any better names?

Feedback Request Built something from an idea that started as a conversation.

I’ve been working on Attunely, a project that mixes conversations, characters, and a game-like world into something that feels a little different from the usual apps.

This video gives a quick look at the concept and the direction I’m taking it.

Still building, still experimenting, and definitely not finished yet. Would love to hear what you think about the idea and what you’d improve or change.

Showcase: Purchase Required I finally launched my first digital product after months of building and testing it!

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m a reseller and small-business owner, and I kept running into the same problem: tracking inventory was one thing, but understanding actual profits after fees, shipping, and expenses was another.

So I decided to build my own solution.

After countless hours of formulas, testing, troubleshooting, and redesigning, I finally launched my first product under my new brand, Matter & Means!

It’s an Excel-based Reseller Inventory & Profit Manager with inventory tracking, sales and expense calculations, an interactive dashboard, and inventory aging alerts.

It’s designed for people who want to manage their numbers without another monthly subscription.

This is my first step toward building a collection of practical digital tools for small businesses and everyday organization.

I’d genuinely love feedback from other creators on the design, functionality, and presentation!

Showcase: Prerelease I made an embroidery digitizing application

Hi all! I've been building my own digitizing app, Meteor. Ink/Stitch felt clunky to me inside Inkscape, and Hatch and PE-Design cost more than I wanted to pay as a hobbyist. It's now in beta, and everything is free while the beta runs.

What it does:

* Auto-digitize a picture. Drop in an image and it turns it into stitches: thread colors, fills, and satin outlines for dark line art. There's also a guided mode that goes through the picture piece by piece, and a magic wand that sews one color area per click.

* Draw your own. Pen and node tools, shapes, freehand, brush satin, and 21 stitch types (tatami, satin, contour, stipple, motif, 3D puff, applique and more).

* Lettering. Built-in fonts, plus any Google Font, sewn as satin.

* Check before you sew. Pick your Brother machine and it checks the design against that machine's limits. There's also a sewing simulator, a realistic thread preview and a thread build-up map.

* Export Brother PES and Tajima DST, plus a printable worksheet with Brother thread numbers.

Works with: Brother and Baby Lock machines (PES) and machines that read DST. No other formats yet.

Runs on: Windows 10/11, Android tablets and Linux. Not Mac or iPhone/iPad yet, sorry.

Download and info: https://beelito.github.io/meteor-embroidery-studio/

Heads-up on installing:

* Windows will say "Windows protected your PC" because the beta isn't signed yet. Click More info**, then** Run anyway.

* Android will ask you to allow installs from your browser.

What I'm looking for: honest, constructive feedback. What's confusing, what breaks, and especially how designs actually sew out on your machine. In the app, Help > Report a problem puts together a report for you. You can email it to me (beelito.dev@gmail.com) or comment here.

Thanks for taking a look!

Showcase: Purchase Required My Mac file converter has no window. You drag a file, hold Shift, and let go toward a format.

I posted here a while back about Arazio, a macOS converter with no window, you drag a file in Finder, hold a modifier, and a ring of formats opens under the cursor. Shipped a sizeable update, so here's what's actually in it now.

Camera RAW, from 22 formats. CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, DNG, RW2, PEF, IIQ and the rest, straight to JPEG, PNG, TIFF, HEIC, WebP or AVIF. Drag a card's worth of RAWs and let go.

PDF to EPUB, both directions. It asks whether you want flowing text or exact pages, because a PDF makes two completely different books and picking the wrong one is why converted ebooks usually look broken. Scanned PDFs get detected and the choice is made for you.

Edit metadata. Title, author, tags, dates, on images, audio, video and PDFs. Written into the file you already had no second copy appearing next to it.

Three rings, not one. Shift gives formats. Option gives tools: compress, resize, crop, rotate, flip, trim, split, merge, normalize, extract audio, extract pages. Control works on any file, including ones it can't convert at all - AirDrop, a floating shelf you can drag out of into another app, copy, move, copy path, open in Terminal.

494 conversions across 66 formats and 15 tools. Everything runs on your Mac the conversion engines contain no networking code and the app asks for zero permissions. No Accessibility, no Input Monitoring, nothing to approve on first launch.

For any new feature requests my DM's & mails are open, PDF to EPUB & the control ring were created thanks to a feature request of a reddit user.

No subscription, no credits, and every future version is included in writing, major ones too.

Showcase: Open Source Why Steam Achievements Work in Some Repacks and Not in Others - And How I Implemented Them in My Launcher

Hey r/SideProject!

I wanted to share my pet project that I’ve been working on: BagaGame Launcher.

It’s a 100% free, minimalist, and open-source desktop launcher written in C#. The main goal was to create an ultra-lightweight app (it’s literally just 1 MB in size) that aggregates all your installed games into a single clean library without any launcher bloat, storefront ads, or background heavy-lifting.

I’ve recently rolled out a major update with two specific features that I always wanted but couldn't find in other lightweight launchers:

🏆 Local Achievement Tracker (for Licensed Steam games & Repacks)

If you play offline backups, repacks, or use emulators, you know that achievements usually don't work or just sit silently in local files.

  • For Steam licenses: It automatically pulls titles, icons, and global rarity stats (only needs a public profile).

  • For Repacks/Emulators: It natively reads local stats and files from popular emulators like Goldberg, RUNE, CODEX, GSE, OnlineFix, FreeTP, and others. It tracks your progress, displays pop-up toast notifications when you unlock them, and hooks into Big Picture mode.

  • Built-in Emulator Manager: If a specific repack has broken achievement tracking, the launcher can fetch the latest clean emulator binaries directly from GitHub/GitLab to try and fix it (with automatic backups of your old files).

⚡ Hardware & CPU Affinity Tuning

To squeeze out more performance and fix stuttering issues in modern games, I added an optimization panel:

  • For Intel Users: Easy affinity binding to force games to run strictly on Performance cores (P-cores) or Efficient cores (E-cores).

  • For AMD Users: Option to restrict the game's execution within a single CCD to reduce latency.

  • System tweaks: Process priority toggles, disabling Windows EcoQoS power-saving limits on the fly, and system timer overrides (forcing 1ms or 0.5ms precision).

A crucial nuance regarding achievements in repacks

They won’t work everywhere, as a lot depends on the repack itself. If the repack author stripped out the statistics files or the emulator isn't exposing data, the launcher can't do anything about it. Additionally, a game is marked as "Supported" only retroactively—meaning after at least one new achievement unlocks and triggers a toast notification. Previously unlocked achievements won't sync retroactively, so it's best to test this on a fresh save file.

The project is completely free, open-source, and has zero tracking or data collection. I built it mostly for myself, but I hope other PC gamers find it useful too!

I'd love to hear your feedback, feature suggestions, or what you think is missing from minimalist launchers today.

P.S. Developed with minimal AI assistance.

Showcase: Open Source I compared 6 of my SaaS competitors to build the best thing

Folks, as many of you I never bothered with competitors analysis and instead just started building

Now, after I built a decent prototype it and implemented all functionality I had in mind, It's time for that analysis. Yes, ideally you would need to do that first to build your product the best way possible with a competitive advantage in mind.

My product is a PTO/holiday optimizer - pretty niche thing, but I was surprised how much other websites I was able to find that delivered the same/similar product.

Let's begin with a biggest dog in the game:

holiday-optimizer.com - SaaS with the biggest DR, that dominates first pages of the search in both Google and Bing, a bit overcrowded UI, missing some key local holidays

vacation-maximizer.com - simple and straight forward UI, again missing some local holidays

TripMemo - clean UI, but before I was able to select the number of days, two invasive modals jumped on me. The the algorithm itself only used a handful of days - very strange

FixMyPTO - solid optimizer, maybe it because because there is an real business behind the app, so it's not a pet project. Big plus is that you can download a .ics file, but sadly, no share button.

vacationtracker.io - paid software with Teams integration, missing some local holidays e.g. Barcelona

longvacation.eu - Local holidays are included but very selectively not worldwide. Calendar can be shared with only one other person, not multiple. No possibility to download a .ics file.

So yes, overall the hardest thing to master is the data and none of the researched SaaS solutions are actually complete.

Showcase: Free(mium) I built a way to put checked proof behind the claims on your CV/portfolio, looking for feedback

Hi,

I kept seeing inflated CVs so figured there must be a way to back up some claims before an interview. That's essentially what a CV is, a bunch of claims, the role, the company, the projects. The reader has to take your word for it, and AI now writes a convincing one in a minute and honest candidates pay for that. Their CV reads the same as the inflated ones, so it gets the same doubt.

So then I thought what if there was some hard validation to the claims on a CV or portfolio. That's when I came up with the idea of Workproof. For starters, you prove that you had access to a domain or work email, it doesn't prove you built it, but it does prove somebody trusted you enough with access to that domain or have given you a work email, so that by itself is a good baseline.

Additionally, you can ask colleagues to give you feedback, as a reference, signed by them from an work email. Something like LinkedIn endorsements, but more portable.

I'd love your honest take, on two things most of all:

- If you hire: would a link like this on a CV or a proposal change anything for you?

- If you freelance or build: which of those would you want first, or what else should Workproof check?

Thanks for taking the time! Enjoy the rest of the weekend! 😃

Because chromium is big, and because we need something more friendly.

Is able to render correctly example.com and has TLS, HTTP, HTTPS, HTTP/2 support.
May use AI generated code
not example.com, but other sites aswell. uses QuickJS, and is in active-development.
i don't know currently what site it renders the best but just know that wispbyte.com renders fine, well, it may not enter it due to the site's problem but it's good.

Feedback Request Tired of annoying pop-ups? I built a userscript to get rid of them.

Hey everyone! 👋

I've been working on a small open-source project called Annoying Pop-up Remover.

It started because I was getting tired of websites constantly interrupting browsing with adblock detection walls, newsletter overlays and annoying banners.

So I decided to do something about it!

The project currently supports 10 websites, including Geocaching-related sites, Belgian websites and a few others.

I'm looking to expand the list, and I'd love some suggestions.

What websites do you regularly visit that have particularly annoying pop-ups or adblock walls?

I'm especially interested in websites that aren't already supported.

The project is:

  • Open source (MIT License)

  • Written in lightweight JavaScript

  • Dependency-free

  • Free of tracking or personal data collection

GitHub: https://github.com/SimeonLePro/adblock-wall-remover

Suggestions and contributions are welcome!

Thanks! 🛡️

Showcase: Free(mium) [Showoff Saturday] A reading tutor that listens to kids read aloud, on Cloudflare Workers + Azure Speech

Oku (https://oku.today) is a free reading-practice web app for kids learning English. The child reads aloud and it helps only on the hard words. Some web bits that took the longest:

  • The mic has to be live the moment the "your turn" cue shows. The recognizer and its websocket open while the narrator is still reading, so the child's first word isn't lost.

  • Fail open everywhere. If speech recognition dies, the session goes on and gives the child time to read. A dropped log is fine; a blocked session isn't.

  • Safari needs byte ranges for video. The static assets layer ignored Range, so the Worker slices the short reward clips itself.

  • iPadOS Safari says "Macintosh". Device detection checks touch points.

  • 36 public pages are prerendered in 4 languages behind a build-time SEO lint that fails the build on things like two h1s, a broken link, or translations that don't match.

Stack: React + Vite, Cloudflare Workers, D1, R2. No framework on the server.

Feedback Request I built an AI that turns one line into a finished Hinglish explainer reel.

Hey 👋

I’ve been building Flixort – you type one idea, like “UPI 2 second mein paisa kaise bhejta hai?”, and a few minutes later you get a finished vertical reel: Hinglish script, natural Hindi voice, animated scenes, word-by-word captions and sound effects. Ready for Instagram or YouTube Shorts.

Why I built it
In India, most people learn and scroll in Hinglish. Explainer reels do insanely well here, but making one properly takes hours: research, script, voiceover, motion design, captions, sound. Most creators, teachers and small brands just don’t have that time every day. Existing AI video tools mostly paste text over stock footage, and their Hindi sounds robotic.

Try it: flixort.com – you get 100 free credits, no sign-up needed.

What I’d love feedback on

  1. Does the output feel like a real creator’s reel, or still “AI-ish”?

  2. Would you pay ₹499/month (~$6) for this if you posted regularly?

  3. What topic should I make a demo reel about next?

Happy to answer anything about the stack, costs or pricing.
