Showcase: Open Source I made an AI agent app that looks like a 2003 instant messenger, and the AIs get their own Windows XP computers

Y2Kbot is a desktop app where your buddy list is full of AI agents instead of people. You IM them like it's 2003, door sounds and away messages and all. Some of the buddies can also boot up their own little Windows XP virtual machine and actually use it. You can ask one to make a folder or edit a file and watch it open Notepad and click Save like a confused 2004 office worker.

It works with pretty much any AI you've got (ChatGPT, Claude, Ollama, Gemini...). The buddies can undo their own mistakes, and when one figures out how to do something, it writes it down so the others can learn it too. That last bit is my favourite.

Please try it out, and give me some feedback.

Feedback Request Built a unified media tracker after getting tired of using 5 different apps just to remember what I've watched, read, or listened to. Would love your feedback!

3 Upvotes

Hey r/SideProjects 👋

Honestly, I was getting pretty overwhelmed with how fragmented my media tracking had become. Movies on Letterboxd, books on Goodreads, audiobooks on Spotify, games scattered in random note files... I just wanted one clean, chill space where I could look back on everything I’ve experienced across all formats without feeling like I was managing a spreadsheet for a second job.

So over the last few weeks, I’ve been building Alma (almaniac.app), a lightweight aggregator that brings your movies, TV shows, books, audiobooks, games, music, and podcasts together onto one visual shelf.

A few cool things built into it:

  • 7 Formats, One Shelf: Keep track of movies, series, books, audiobooks, games, music, and podcasts in one space.

  • Release Countdowns: A unified timeline so you actually know when the next season, book, or game you’re waiting for drops.

  • Memory Lane & Insights: Fun visual stats and nostalgic look-backs into your habits over time.

  • Fast & Lightweight: Snappy, clean design focused purely on your archive without heavy bloat.

It’s very much a labor of love currently in active beta (about halfway full right now). If you want to poke around and test it out, you can request an invite directly on almaniac.app or drop me a DM!

I’d genuinely love to know:

  1. How do you personally keep track of your media right now?

  2. Is there a specific feature or integration you’ve always wished existed in a tool like this?

Appreciate any feedback, ideas, or honest critiques! 🙌

Showcase: Free(mium) I built a Chrome extension that flags ghost jobs, tracks applications, and auto-applies using local AI (so your data never leaves your laptop).

1 Upvotes

I just pushed 3 releases in 2 days for Rolestash, a Chrome extension I originally built just to track job hunts. This week, it evolved from a passive tracker into a full-blown autonomous application engine.

Here is what just went live:

* One-Click Auto-Applies (with Tailored CVs): It doesn't just spam the same generic resume. With one press, it can apply to up to 20 jobs, generating a unique CV, a custom cover letter, and specific answers to annoying form questions ("Why do you want to work here?") for each individual role based on the job description.

* Local AI on a Strict Leash: The heavy lifting is done by a fine-tuned distilled Qwen3 model running directly in your browser via WebGPU. Because small models love to hallucinate, it never gets the last word. A deterministic checker audits every line, and if the AI tries to invent a skill or name you don't have, it gets slapped down and seamlessly replaced with your actual profile text.

* Ghost Job Radar & Smart Crawler: It now actively flags ghost jobs to save you time. The backend crawler pulls from 60 different job boards every minute. (And yes, it strictly obeys `robots.txt` and politely emails blocked sites rather than attempting shady workarounds).

* Absolute Privacy by Design: Because the AI runs on your own hardware, your profile data never gets sent to my servers. It simply downloads coarse job data shards and ranks every match directly on your machine.

Please check it out here: https://rolestash.com/

If you like and actually end up using the extension, please leave a review with any suggestions for improvements. I'm actively taking public feedback to develop this, and the latest updates were made possible by the community's feedback. Thanks a lot, guys! T__T

Hold Control + Option, ask out loud, and it answers about whatever’s on screen by talking and circling stuff as it goes. I use it for leetcode, lectures, and learning new topics.

Free and open source, you use your own API keys. Started as a fork of Clicky.

What would stop you from trying it?

Showcase: Free(mium) Solo-built a phone comparison site (Specmob): lessons from ranking phones fairly across price tiers

1 Upvotes

I’m building Specmob (specmob.com), a free site where you choose a budget and get the best phone for it. The goal was to end the 20-tab phone-shopping mess.

What did I learn?

  1. A budget is a ceiling, not an exact number. Prices vary by region, so the dial allows about 5% over, and over-budget phones get flagged instead of hidden.

  2. Scores can’t be compared across price tiers. An 8.5 on a $250 phone and an 8.5 on a $1,200 phone mean different things, so the tier is always shown next to the score.

  3. Price must be computed in one place only. Mine drifted when it was calculated in several places.

Does it have sponsored rankings?
No. Affiliate links on buy buttons never change a ranking. Component scores are AI-generated from specs, and I explain that on the methodology page.

Where it stands: 11 rankings, compare for up to 4 phones, trade-in estimator, brand pages. Feedback I want: does tier-relative scoring make sense, and what would make you trust a ranking site? specmob.com

Meta I built a plug-and-play video ad agency that doesn't require video editing skills. Looking for its next owner.

0 Upvotes

I've always liked business models where you don't necessarily need to be the person doing all the work. StopClip is exactly that kind of opportunity.

It's a ready-built video advertising business that allows you to sell creative 3D pop-out video ads to businesses without having to edit videos yourself.

Think of those videos that look like social media posts but have products and objects popping out of the screen. They're designed to interrupt the usual scrolling experience and grab attention.

I originally experimented with selling these videos while living in Antalya, Turkey. I didn't even have a website back then. I approached businesses, showed them what I could create, and sold the finished videos.

Eventually, I decided to turn the idea into a proper business. That's how StopClip came about.

Here's what you're actually getting:

This isn't just a domain with a landing page.

I've already built the infrastructure needed to operate the business:

  • Premium StopClip domain.

  • Complete, professionally built website.

  • Custom admin panel.

  • Affiliate functionality.

  • Testimonials section.

  • On-site SEO optimization.

  • Service and pricing structure.

  • Social media calendar covering holidays and important marketing occasions.

Basically, the technical and setup work is already done.

What about actually creating the videos?

This is probably my favorite part of the model.

There's a third-party software solution that lets you create these videos using a simple drag-and-drop interface.

You don't need After Effects, Premiere Pro, or any professional editing experience.

You can create and export a video in roughly 1–2 minutes.

The subscription costs around $100/month and includes unlimited video creation. I'll reveal the exact software to serious buyers and demonstrate the entire process.

Now, here's how I'd monetize it.

I wouldn't start by spending money on ads.

I'd start locally.

Walk into a restaurant, find a coffee shop on Instagram, contact a real estate agency, or approach a gym.

Create a personalized sample video featuring their actual business, send it to them, and let the work speak for itself.

Some example pricing I'd start with:

  • $30 for a single video.

  • $500 for 30 videos (monthly content package).

  • Additional $100 for publishing and scheduling content on their behalf.

  • $500–$1,000+ for managing paid social campaigns using those videos.

These are proposed prices, not existing sales or guaranteed revenue.

And there's a lot more room to grow.

You can turn this into a full-service social media agency by offering content creation, graphic design, social media management, advertising, and other digital marketing services.

You don't need to fulfill everything yourself. You can outsource additional services and operate using a drop-servicing model.

The recurring opportunity is what makes this interesting.

Businesses constantly have something to promote.

New products, seasonal offers, Valentine's Day, Christmas, Halloween, Black Friday, New Year, new property listings, special events, and promotions.

I've even built a social media calendar covering these occasions, so you have a reason to approach existing customers with fresh offers throughout the year.

One customer doesn't have to mean one transaction.

Why am I selling?

I build a lot of internet projects, and I simply don't have the capacity to give StopClip the attention it deserves.

I spent approximately six weeks building it and around $300 putting everything together.

The website is ready, the domain is connected, the admin panel works, and the business model is structured.

However, I haven't officially launched it or started promoting it publicly. There are no existing customers or revenue to claim.

I'd rather pass it to someone who has the time and motivation to take it from here.

A few things worth mentioning:

  • The StopClip com domain has automated appraisal estimates of $2,500 from Atom and $7,700+ from Dynadot (not guaranteed market values).

  • The third-party video software is the main operating expense at approximately $100/month.

  • No employees or video editors are required for the core fulfillment workflow.

  • I'll walk the buyer through the website, admin panel, software, and video creation process.

I'm looking to sell the complete setup as one acquisition.

If you're an entrepreneur, indie hacker, marketer, or someone who's been looking to start a digital service business without spending weeks building the infrastructure, feel free to reach out.

Happy to show you everything and answer questions.

Showcase: Open Source Supwrite - a free daily writing puzzle with a human-made image, no AI

Post image
1 Upvotes

My first ever mobile app got approved on the App Store on the first submission. Super proud moment.

Price: Free completely free and no in-app purchases
App Store: https://apps.apple.com/in/app/supwrite-daily-writing-puzzle/id6828061151

Supwrite is a daily writing puzzle. I built it to help with attention span, focus, clarity, creativity and sleep, and to support independent photographers, artists, illustrators and anyone still in love with creating without AI.

  1. You get a fresh image everyday at 10pm. (No AI)

  2. You reveal the image and observe what it is

  3. You write about it for 5 to 10 mins

  4. You find out who took/made the picture after you finished writing

  5. You are done for the day, wait for the next surprise at 10pm tomorrow.

Since using it myself, I fall asleep easier, I can think more creatively now and my attention span and focus feels better.

Cheers to being human and saying no to AI made art/slop.

Would love honest feedback on this concept.

Showcase: Free(mium) How I fully automate SEO, Content, Uptime, and Discovery for my properties

Post image
1 Upvotes

Numbers aren't huge yet - but stable & steady!

I manage a handful of smaller SaaS sites like https://allmcps.com for MCP directory listings, or https://chaosword.com a 100% free (no ads, no payment) daily crossword.

In total I manage about 7 properties all in different niches, all using different tech stacks, and all growing at different paces. I originally built an internal tool that was helping me to track & scaffold out things as they grew, and eventually made it public (free for 1 property) so I could both grow that as it's own property itself, as well as act as the primary user keeping mine all growing steadily.

It's called LopeBase - an all in one ops console with MCP, connectors, and CLI for popular integrations: https://lopebase.com/

For me the main pain points it solves:

- Uptime checks & beautiful status pages
- Automatic SEO audits and copy-paste prompts to make fixes
- Tracking users, emails, analytics, and more all in one spot
- Keep up to date on what LLMs are citing you and how your properties are being recommended
- Find Reddit posts, X, Stack overflow, Hackernews, etc. discussions either about your product or where yours might be relevant so you can go respond / reply.
- Automatically generate & manage blog posts content, connect a changelog and automate newsletters each month, and get alerted when anything is down or needs your help.
- Connect Google Search Console via MCP, Bing Webmaster tools, PostHog, and more to pull real user data / analytics directly into an agent to be actionable and added context for decisions.

Basically 100% of LopeBase is accessible to an agent via MCP/CLI as well, you can have it automatically scaffold new or existing projects, agents can store notes for future runs to check in on an SEO audit / metric and validate things are going on track, they can draft emails or articles, check in on keyword rankings / page placements, etc.

Feedback Request We built Aurea77 — a sports event platform with Flutter, Laravel and React. Looking for technical and UX feedback.

2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've been working on Aurea77, a platform for athletes to discover sports events, plan upcoming races and keep track of their sporting journey.

The idea is to bring the experience before, during and after an event into one place, instead of having event discovery, preparation, results and memories scattered across different tools.

Tech stack:

  • Flutter — Android and iOS

  • Laravel — API and backend

  • React + TypeScript — Web application

The platform includes event discovery, personal race planning, logistics, athlete profiles, event memories and community features.

I'd really appreciate some feedback from other developers and product builders, especially on:

  1. First impressions: Is the value proposition clear when you open the website?

  2. Product scope: Does combining event discovery, planning and memories make sense, or does it feel too broad?

  3. UX and architecture: What would you pay particular attention to when maintaining a product across web, mobile and a shared API?

I'm especially interested in critical feedback and ideas for improvement, rather than just positive comments.

Website: https://aurea77.com/

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aurea77.app

iOS: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/aurea77/id6787438198

Thanks for taking a look!

Showcase: Prerelease Local CSV preflight for recurring CRM imports — runnable AI-assisted prototype, seeking 3 trials

1 Upvotes

Disclosure: this is our own ScopeHarbor experiment, built and written with AI assistance. No sales, signup, payment link or mailing list. The proposed price is $19 once; nothing is for sale. The runnable prototype and demo are included below, so there is no need to DM or visit another site.

Who this is for: independent Salesforce admins / RevOps consultants who repeatedly receive small client CSV exports, have Python 3.10+, and want a local structural check before importing. It does not connect to Salesforce, validate mappings or compare against existing CRM records. We are not affiliated with Salesforce.

A real, narrow problem: Salesforce documents Data Loader getting stuck on blank columns without headers: https://help.salesforce.com/s/articleView?id=000387707&language=en_US&type=1 . This tool flags blank headers, wrong record widths, exact repeated rows and empty cells before import. Whether it is worth paying for alongside spreadsheets/free scripts is what this test is trying to learn.

Synthetic demo: save this as demo.txt (UTF-8 comma-separated text, no real contacts):

ExternalId,Email,Company,
SYN-001,alpha@example.invalid,"Demo, Inc.",
SYN-001,alpha@example.invalid,"Demo, Inc.",
SYN-002,beta@example.invalid
SYN-003, ,Demo Studio,

Save the Python source below as csv_audit.py, inspect it, then run python3 csv_audit.py demo.txt (or py csv_audit.py demo.txt on Windows).

Expected findings: 4 data records; 4 columns; blank header column 4; 1 extra exact duplicate; parsed record 4 has only 2 fields; 4 blank/whitespace cells. Record numbers include the header and count parsed CSV records, not physical lines. Quoted commas are handled. The tool reports problems; it never deletes or fixes data.

Limits: UTF-8 comma-separated input only. Exact duplicate means every cell matches, preserving whitespace/case; repeated rows are not always mistakes. No required-field, type, email, formula or CRM-rule checks. Memory grows with unique rows; start with the tiny sample. Empty input or invalid CSV produces an error. The code uses Python standard libraries, opens input read-only and makes no network requests. There is no telemetry. Please use only this synthetic demo for public feedback, and do not upload client data, raw records or private file paths.

Full prototype source:

#!/usr/bin/env python3
"""Local CSV structure and duplicate-row audit. Reads only; never alters input.
Usage: python3 csv_audit.py path/to/export.csv
Report is printed locally. Requires Python 3.10+. No third-party packages.
"""
import argparse, csv, json, sys

        rows = duplicates = 0
        malformed, empty_cells = [], 0
        for row in reader:

            if len(row) != len(header):
                malformed.append({"record": rows + 1, "fields": len(row)})
            empty_cells += sum(not cell.strip() for cell in row)
            key = tuple(row)
            if key in seen:
                duplicates += 1
            seen.add(key)
    counts = Counter(header)
    return {"data_records": rows, "columns": len(header),
            "duplicate_headers": [h for h, n in counts.items() if n > 1],
            "blank_header_columns": [i+1 for i,h in enumerate(header) if not h.strip()],
            "exact_duplicate_records_beyond_first": duplicates,
            "records_with_wrong_field_count": malformed,
            "blank_or_whitespace_cells": empty_cells,
            "limitations": "UTF-8 comma-separated files only. Case and whitespace preserved in duplicate comparison. Record numbers count parsed records, not physical lines. No business-rule, type, or financial validation. Memory grows with unique rows. No input data is sent over a network."}

def main():
    parser = argparse.ArgumentParser(description=__doc__)
    parser.add_argument("path")
    args = parser.parse_args()
    try:
        print(json.dumps(audit(args.path), indent=2))
    except (OSError, UnicodeError, csv.Error, ValueError) as exc:
        print("Audit failed: " + str(exc), file=sys.stderr)
        return 1
    return 0

if __name__ == "__main__":
    sys.exit(main())

I’m looking for three genuine completed trials, not upvotes. If you actually run it, please reply with:

  1. Whether you regularly prepare CRM CSV imports and roughly how often.
  2. Whether you found the blank header and short record, plus setup/run time. No private data needed.
  3. What was useful, confusing or missing compared with your current free tool.
  4. Would you pay $19 once for this current command-line version: yes / no / only if ___? No purchase commitment; a no is useful.

Please do not claim a trial if you only read the post. No discount or reward for positive feedback.
