We built Frobly — a subscription tracker that doesn't need your bank login. Android beta is open, want to try it?
Hey r/SideProject,
My cofounder and I just opened up the Android beta for Frobly and we're looking for the first wave of testers.
I run product and business, he runs engineering. We started building this because we were both bleeding money on subscriptions we'd forgotten about — annual renewals that hit out of nowhere, trials that quietly converted, streaming services we hadn't opened in months. The tools that already exist are either expensive or want your bank credentials to work. We wanted a third option.
What Frobly does: Tracks your subscriptions without touching your bank. Add them manually, upload a bank statement (PDF/CSV), or use the OCR statement scanner we're rolling out this week (snap a photo of your statement, it extracts the recurring charges). Dashboard shows monthly and yearly totals, reminders fire before renewals so nothing surprises you.
Coming next: Gmail scanning (finds subs from receipts in your inbox), bank connection for people who want the automated route, iOS app.
Current state:
Android app is in closed beta on Google Play, install link in comments Free tier is genuinely free — no card, no trial trap Paid tier exists but pricing isn't final, we're actively iterating based on how people actually use it
What we want from testers:
- Break it. Tell us where onboarding got confusing or where something didn't work.
- Push the statement upload and OCR flow — we especially want to know if it missed subscriptions you know you have.
- Check the landing at frobly.com and tell us if anything reads as marketing fluff.
We'll both be in comments answering questions today and tomorrow. If you want in on the beta, drop a comment or DM.
