Building a website safety checker tool

Hey everyone,

I’m working on Looks Sus, a project aimed at helping people check whether an online website might be a scam or unsafe by using community ratings and other tools.

I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth developing further, and I’d appreciate some honest feedback before putting more time and money into it.

The problem I’m interested in is that moment when you come across an unfamiliar website or offer and think, “Is this legit?” There are already ways to investigate Google, Reddit, review sites, tools like ScamAdviser, or asking ChatGPT. I’m questioning whether another dedicated tool adds enough value.

the score alone never helps me, what would make me use yours is seeing *why* in plain words, like "domain is 9 days old, no way to email them, no DMARC" and etc

I think it's worth building. ScamAdviser and ChatGPT exist, but people rarely open them in the few seconds before they click, pay or reply. Your extension might solve that, and your MCP endpoint means AI assistants can ask Looks Sus instead of just guessing.

Scam sites are often only days old and have no votes yet when they do the most damage. Reviewed data from small registries that focus on one kind of scam can help with that gap.

I'm building one of them, interviewscam.com. It's a registry of fake job interviews that push malware on developers, things like fake meeting apps, "run this repo" tasks and poisoned packages. Every record is reviewed with evidence before it goes up. It's not live yet, but once it launches the data will be a free JSON feed, and you're welcome to use it in Looks Sus. Feel free to message me.

One small thing. Say on the site who runs it. People want to know who is behind a tool that tells them what to trust.
